Hi Guys,

My wife filed her 2009 Tax returns (it was a joint one along with W7 form)recently but forgot to take a copy of it before sending to NVC....I see people here are saying to take a copy of the latest tax returns to the interview.....People, can somebody advice me what to do in this situation.....I have her W2 for this year and last 2 yrs tax returns and in my appointment letter, it stated that NVC has received and accepted all the reqd docs and I have to carry Passport, Photo and Medical to the interview.....I am bit confused now.....Whether the W2 of this year will serve the purpose or it is necessary to carry the 2009 tax returns transcripts....

Please help and ur replies are much appreciated...

Raj

hi,

My husband sent the AOS documents just a photocopies to the NVC and he sent me the original plus the photocopies all AOS package... I think your wife can request for W2 or the IRS. It takes 1 week to get it.. I wish it helps..

Goodluck in our interview!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply....Ya she has her W2 for the current year which she will be sending it to me soon.....But for the Tax returns, she filed it along with W7 (to get the tax ID for me,since it was a joint tax return) it will take a Month's time to get processed......Hope she can get the copy before the interview date and send it to me....fingers crossed....

BTW all the best for your interview too...

Ask her to send a copy of whatever she used to file with the IRS. Hopefully she made the copies before sending it off?

Hello! I think that it would be best to take the complete tax transcripts to the interview, just to be on the safe side (although NVC already has it). I don't think that just having the W2 will be enough. I called up the I.R.S. and asked for them to send me the tax transcripts and within a week and half, I received it by mail, it's pretty quick.

Raj,

She can just send you a copy of the 1040 she filled out, if she made a copy of it before sending it to the IRS she can send that to you, or if she didn't make a copy and if she used a program like turbo tax or even if she went to a place like H&R block she can easily get another print out. That along with her w-2 is all you would need.
