Hello everyone! I have a question pertaining to Advanced Parole.

We are gathering our papers for the AOS. But I am a little confused with the necessity of advanced parole.

We do not have any plan yet to go back to the Philippines any time within this year. Do we still need to send for an AP?

But also, although we are not planning to go back home soon, what if an emergency from home might come? If this happens, we would surely go home. In anticipation for any emergency, do you think we will need to send for an AP? If yes, what reasons should we put on the form? date and duration? If no, how can we easily go back to the Philippines, if an emergency happens, and us not having an AP?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read. Godbless us all.

AP is (or can be) used to re-enter the US, should you need/want-to leave temporarily, while you have a pending AOS.

You're not compelled to, but why not do it anyway just in case?

I would - you're already 'paying' for it (technically it isn't free, but the fee is waived if you have a pending AOS). It can't hurt and is simple for do.

If yes, what reasons should we put on the form?

"In Case of Emergency"?

date and duration?

"Unknown" or "To be determined"

If no, how can we easily go back to the Philippines, if an emergency happens, and us not having an AP?

If you do not already have your PR/Green Card - and you leave without AP, you will not be admitted back into the US. If you do not apply for AP now, you could still do so later - when/if an emergency comes up - it would just take time that usually is in short supply during an emergency.

AP is not just for emergencies - can be for business/pleasure reasons as well. Can be applied for with the AOS or after the AOS is filed. :star:
