Can anyone tell me whether my soon to be husband can travel out of the country while he has is green card or if we should wait the three years until he is a citizen. We really like to travel and see different parts of the world but we don't want to screw anything up in our process by doing so. Are there special travel papers we need to get before we leave the country and if there are how much do they cost? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Why would you screw anything up by traveling? If you look at the greencard, it clearly says the person shown in this card is allowed to WORK and LIVE in the united states. The united states is his home now so he can travel anytime he wants and come back without any problem. All he needs is his passport and greencard. He has to show his passport on his way out and show his greencard on his way in.

I strongly doubt if it would make any different, matter of fact, it doesnt. What would make a differenceis if he stays out of the US for 6months continuous. And even with that, its at the discretion of the person reviewing your naturalization packet.

Please send me a postcard when u guys travel, times are hard out here for me..Ha!
