I recently found on Facebook an old friend and classmate of mine whom I haven't seen or spoken to in person in about 25 years. It's amazing to see an old friend like that and how they've changed over the years, as well as getting a glimpse of the path they took. On the other hand, it's sort of depressing because our lives have gone in such different directions, any chance of staying in touch beyond adding them on Facebook seems near impossible. I'm just wondering what others here have done regarding connecting with old friends and classmates via the internet. Has anyone here been able to maintain any kind of connection beyond just adding them?

I've added quite a few kids I went to high school with. I add them, and we will 'like' each others ####### from time to time. It's great. I get to see how OLD everyone looks, while imagining I don't.

I don't FB and would not be interested in the slightest to know about former classmates.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

You've noticed that too, eh?

Well, I'm comparing their current images to the images in my head from 17+ years ago. I don't think I've visibly aged as much (although I am sure I actually have) because I'm comparing my image today to my image yesterday. It's not really a fair comparison.

Well, he's actually an old friend beyond just a classmate. After high school, he went off to college to become a minister. He's now in Kuwait, although I'm not sure what his occupation there is. :)

Most people who I have 'added' are people who I was actually somewhat friends with/communicated with. No on really random per se that I went to school with.

It is interesting though. Especially when you see people who use FB to 'hook up' with those people who they would never have EVER hooked up with back in the day.

That's cool that people are reasonably close together. My HS friends are all over the world. One of them used to live in Jersey (at which time we did meet up, this is the pre-Web2.0 era) but fled to the Chitown burbs as soon as he had the opportunity:)

 Very cool. I'd love to meet with many of my old classmates and friends. I passed up on my 10 and 20 year reunions.

Friendster was once very popular in the Philippines. Now everybody is moving to Facebook.

It's good to see familiar faces. Most of my college classmates already have their own kids. I had always been one of the youngest students in class though. Most of the people I know who add me at Facebook say that I have gained weight. They were so used to seeing me really skinny until college graduation. I started gaining weight in my second job.

I remember my skinny days. I'd still be skinny if it weren't for food.
