I-130 Approved

Woohoo! My background check cleared and we got our letter clearing us to make the immigrant interview yesterday. It took a little over two weeks (from Tokyo). Now we can schedule the final interview. We are going to give ourselves 7 weeks to prepare the medical, police certificates, all supporting documents, and our I-864 (which is already almost done, just need to fill out our bank account info but we want to have that amount as close to the date as possible). How long did you give yourselves between recieving the I-130 approval letter and the immigrant interview? We are pretty confident we can get everything done as we started on the police certificates last weekend.

I was kinda confused as to if the letter IS an NOA1? I read that the NOA1 is a receipt saying they received the application and the NOA2 says it's accepted. Well they handed us a letter the day we turned in our I-130 at the Embassy that said they'd received our application and to please wait for a letter saying we are clear to schedule an interview. Is this letter considered an NOA2?

You can say that..NOA2 you are filing DCF/Direct Consular Filing

There are several advantages to filing I-130 overseas, speedier processing time being the main one. Additionally, overseas filers skip the National Visa Center pre-processing, saving several months which is real nice.

Policies are different from consulate to consulate. You need to requested permission spouses are allowed to come to the interview to do that ahead of time, but the consulate needs advance notice to put the name on the list of who to expect on interview. The USC is not allowed to approach the interview windowand.

There is no “NOA1” for receipt of the I-130, or “NOA2” indicating its approval on DCF/Direct Consular Filing. Your case will not appear in the online USCIS database. There is no formalized way for you to check on your petition, but there is no need for you to check on it. Petition adjudication usually happens quite quickly which is real nice.
