Caveat / Nota.Bene.: I monitor this stuff, as much as is possible, but with NVC going wonky for March, April, and into May, it's been getting strange

1.

non-EP (paper) - When ya call NVC and ask, they will tell you. DOS hotline also knows this - but only after it's left. Once it's left NVC - DOS knows all the rest of the timeticks.

EP - Appointment Letter Sent timetick. The casefile is sent out via SAFEFILE. SAFEFILE is almost instantaneous.

2.

non-EP (Paper) - timetick at DOS - 'casefile opened at GUZ', but prior to this, is 'NVC Out', then 'arrive in Guangzhou via DHL', then 'off to warehouse', then 'GUZ retrieve from warehouse' then 'GUZ open casefile'. This takes anywhere from 2 to 6 months, between 'NVC OUT' and 'Casefile Opened at GUZ'. Sure, it's 3 to 5 days via DHL from NVC to the warehouse, but then it sits, following a FIFO inventory processing for casefile retrieval.

EP-Casefile sent via SAFEFILE, but - prior to that, you already know the interview date. Usually A P4 packet is sent out, but many times not, as the contents of the P4 (appointment letter, medical forms) are available prior, electronically. IMO, this really is a timetick ya don't have to worry about, as the appointment letter comes in to yer email - and GUZ has instant access to the casefile from the SAFEFILE system.

errata - did you 'front load' the bonafide marriage evidence in the I-130? That stuff is tossed, not go along with the casefile INTO SAFEFILE during NVC processing. Well, not tossed, exactly, as it stays in the paper casefile, which then goes to storage in the USA- so be sure to not only REPLICATE that evidence packet, but bring it up to date, to show on interview day.

Remember my prediction for 'appointment letter sent'?

Actually, being brain dead and so much happening,,,,,, :bonk: Sorry My Friend I do not remember your predication, can you enlighten me again ... ?

Thank You ... If you lived closer I'd buy you dinner !!! :P

"Yer getting real close - I had forgotten about the pregnancy !!! IMO, expect 'case complete' by the end of this week, with 'appointment date set' by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (again, barring any RFEs). "

So, We had No REF, Nor any "Check List" emails in this process requiring extra time. Unable to login into any portals, wife case complete.. So I hope that we will get our interview date by Mid Week. I do hope it is about 4 weeks out.. why? I am going and need to buy a nice expensive airline ticket to Guangzhou. No Cheap flights this time of year. I did find Eva Air, from Seattle to Taipie to Guangzhou.. Nothing open to Beijing that is cheap.. Any ideas about air fair at last minute ??

Now that we are just about through NVC, I was thinking about starting another thread.. NVC - Interview, what do you think?

I have a few questions about this:

  • Does My wife need to mail the DS-230 Part 1 & 2 ?
  • Does My wife need to sign and mail to the consulate OF-169?
  • Does my wife need to mail to the Consulate the EMS Label ?
  • Does My wife need to mail her interview appointment letter also?

The reason I ask is that my wife was told that she needs to mail to the consulate these documents, does she? If so when? If not then just bring with?

Thanks again, oh -- You think I should start this new thread? maybe it can help others out.

re: yer wife was told :(

I will guess that she 'was told' by the ladies on the 001 bbs. 90 percent of the info there, supplied by the ladies, is wrong. Feel free to tell her I said so ;) Ya, I monitor that site, as well, and the backstabbing going on there is abysmal. FWIW, is a 'game' to give wrong information, in the hope to 'trip up a newbie' so that the 'newbie' will fail.

The answer to all, is NO, as she is CR-1 visa applicant. (I assume - mail to the consulate)

The answer is the same, whether paper submittal or electronic processing at NVC.

CR-1 Visa Applicants DO NOT DO any of those things in that 4 point bullet list.

Guangzhou-bound EP cases - read this -

http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4595.html

and note at the bottom -

The applicant will need to present the original physical documents to the US Embassy/Consulate at the time of the applicant's visa interview. Failure to do so may cause a delay or denial of the visa being sought

That's the I-864 with all support docs, the DS-230 will all original documents (white books), plus the appointment letter AND the medical stuff, plus any new 'bonafide relationship' fodder.

Since there's a child involved (pay attention) -

1. if 100 percent 'foster statement' ON the mother in the divorce document, must be able to point this out to the ConOff, as 'father's permission to immigrate' is an issue. If it's not at 100 percent, then permission from the father is needed, notarized, and translated into English.

If there is no 'foster statement' on the divorce decree, get a letter with father's permission to immigrate.

2. supply photos of the mother and child (any other relatives OK) over the course of years - from birth, infant, toddler, elementary school age.

The best prices I've ever gotten were from Asian American ticket agents IN the USA. There should be some there in Seattle, grab a Chinese Newspaper, a Viet Newspaper, and a Korean newspaper, study the ticket agents ads there. You may not be able to read much, but you'll know it's an airline ticket agent, and can read the phone number. If you get stuck on this, come on over to chinafamilyvisa.com and study the posts there on air tickets - we've listed the agents that we've used.

orbitz and cheaptickets usually have a time window, as well, a week before any jump date, where the price drops for about 3 hours. China Southern has a good jump from LAX to CAN, but you'd need to get to LAX first from Seatle. I hate LAX because of the Bradley Terminal, but always have good luck with China Southern on that leg of my jump.

I will start looking again today about airfare, I hope I can find somethiing. But until I have a real date for the interview, hard to get a good pricing. The company I work for has a travel department and they maybe able to help me out, but only when I have a date to be there. I plan on being there about 2 days before the interview. Becuase of our great corporate America, I will be taking time off without pay.. SUCKS.. Great Corporate America !!

As far as the stepdaughter goes, yes the wife has a lot of photos and she is actually an adopted daughter of my wife. So, on the adoption document there is NO Father Listed, Only her as the mother. Thus meaning she has sole 100% custody of the Child.

On another Note I called this morning to NVC, said case is still in "final Review" Now how long is this going to last? Can't login anymore, no more documents required. Was told should hear by Friday an interview date. But I am going with your prediction of either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week..

Not much Else I can really do from here. Just keep dialing those numbers and start preparing for the interview. Now I am sure you are asking.. prepare what? we'll I am gathering my "check list" to ensure that I have all documents for the interview. On my Last trip to see the wife in April, I took everything. I am now just print all recent emails, chat logs, etc. New Pay stubs, even a new employer letter. Do not know what else I can do... Any suggestions? Oh Panic maybe :o

Thanks as always..

Is there a difference between "final review" and "addtional processing" Just curious. I was told two different things when I called today. One said "final Review" another said those bad words "AP"...

Now this worries me.. If AP, then it could be another 50 Days... then another 30 for Interview... Just Freakin great........ So maybe another 3 months.. puts wife at 7 months pregnant.. getting close if this is the case..

final review? Sorry, thought had gotten the 'case complete' last week. When you call in again, get a supervisor, remind them yer wife is pregnant, ask them what the holdup is.

re: adopted child. Did you note in the I-130 paperwork and DS-230 paperwork that she's adopted? Show copies of adoption paperwork on initial I-130 submittal?

An 'adopted Child' going with 'Mother' receives more scrutiny at Guangzhou, as it's a popular scam for immigration - so the ConOffs pay more attention to any adoption paperwork.

All documents were sent / including adoption at the time of the I-130 Submission. They (USCIS & NVC ) has had these documents since begining.. I am sure that might be a hold up..

Ok.. it's about 20 minutes later since my last post.. I called and I asked if the case is in Additional Processing. She said NO...... It is in final review and should be done shortly.. We'll when i call this afternoon, we shall see. But as of this Moment she said the case is compeleted as far as needing any documents and that the case is in Final Review.. Not Additional Processing...

We'll makes me feel a little better.

no - sorry - 'final review' is precursor to 'case complete at NVC'.

case is compeleted as far as needing any documents - this is not a normal timetick, at all.

Case Complete is Case Complete - Done is Done, Complete is Complete.

Not arguing semantics here, at all.

understand, I am really starting to get frustrated. I will call again later today. Yes, I realize I do call them a lot, but it just seems odd that I get so many different answers. As you previously said a lot of these people are not fimilar with the electronic processing. I am going to stay "on them" to ensure that I am fully aware of the entire situation. So what you are saying is "final review" then "case complete" Correct?

Dazed and Confused for sure now.... I think USCIS and NVC got together on "how to confuse a petitioner" and also on the different words used to describe the stage of a petition.

Me ....... Again and again and again.....................
