The Canadians-in-D.C. Area Get-together Thread!

Greetings all!

Well, now that all of the recent VJ DCers have finally made it down (and in one case, UP) to the area, it's high time to start talking about the get-together we've been discussing peripherally since last year.

If no one objects, I don't mind doing the legwork for this. Organizing things is sort of my forte. But if someone else would rather step up and take the reins, I'm fine with that too! Assuming the former, this is what I suggest we do. Each person who is interested in attending a D.C. area get-together, reply in this thread with the following information:

-Three (3) dates that you would prefer to get together on.

-ANY dates that you absolutely CANNOT get together on.

-Your preference (if any) of location. I think it should be within D.C. limits, but that's open for discussion.

-A head count for your party (i.e.: you alone or you and your spouse). If you and your spouse both post here, please nominate ONE of you to respond.

That should be it for now. I'll give it until next weekend to assemble the results, then I'll put out some more information. Bear in mind that after all the information is assembled etc., ANYone can still attend. I just want to nail down a date and location first.

Finally, it's my personal preference that we do this in June or July, simply because the weather is nicer, and it will give you ample time to "save the date" as it were.

-Preferred dates: Saturday, June 26th; Saturday, June 19th; Saturday, June 12th.

-Dates I CANNOT do this: June 30th - July 4th; any Monday-Thursday evening.

-Preferred location: I'm open to anywhere! Maybe a potluck at a park such as Rock Creek Park? Perhaps at a restaurant or a monument?

-Head count: 2, unless it's June 26th.

-Dates I CANNOT do this: June 5 (WIL's wedding), June 25-27, July 2-4 and August (since my sister is coming and we might go to Florida)

-Preferred location: A park for picnic potluck, or an inexpensive restaurant (like $15-$20 per person); we live close to the inner harbor so if folks wanna go up there, we can have a picnic up at Federal Hill park and walk to the harbor for drinks

-Head count: 2 for us!

The only dates I know so far that I can't make it are the 17th of July and to the next weekend as we're going to the beach. I will have to ask my guy if he'd be up for it --and will keep you all posted.

-Preferred location: I was thinking we'd do this a little north of DC since some people live in Southern PA, but I have no particular preference.

I would love to attend but have way too much going on at the moment to commit. Busy busy busy in the next few months. Fall's good, though! lol

Dates I CANNOT do this: July or August - sorry folks...I hate the weather here, it's too bloody hot and muggy and I would just be a cranky-pants. Unless it's an inside event

Preferred location: I'm open - cook-out potluck sounds fine, but I wouldn't mind within DC either at a monument or park. We'd be more then up for dinner at a restaurant- There are many we haven't been to in DC. Maybe we should all visit the Cdn embassy? get familiar with it, do they have tours?
