Hello to all,

I am usually in the K1 forum, not the AOS forum because I barely submitted my I-129F petition in June. Since all of you are way ahead of me and experts in this topic, I decided to post some questions for you guys.

I am the U.S. citizen and my fiancé is from Mexico, which means he will be going through Ciudad Juarez consulate for his K1 interview.

I had some questions on the vaccinations needed to be issued a K1 visa.

1) What were the vaccinations you guys needed to obtain you K1 visas? What vaccinations were you guys given at your interviews?

2) Is it possible to obtain such vaccinations from your own personal doctor and then have him/her give you some form or letter that lists the vaccinations you have had? Is this valid and allowed? He won’t have problems at the consulate because his personal doctor administered the vaccines? (I’m asking because if this is possible, my fiancé can get the vaccinations from his personal doctor, and save some money rather than have them done by wherever the consulate tells him to get them done). Did any of you guys do your vaccinations this way (or did your fiancés do it this way)?

Thanks guys

Vaccinations are not given at interviews. He's going to need proof of his vaccination history and it doesn't matter who gives the vaccines, as long as he's had them.

This is the list of vaccinations:

He can get the vaccinations at any doctor he likes to see. The civil surgeon he has to go to prior to the interview wants to see his shot record and they will also perform a blood test to see which anti bodies he has.

Anyways, he has to pay the money and go through the medical examination.

Thanks guys :D

But Allie&Leo's answer prompted another question on my part. The K1 beneficiary does need to show a record of specific vaccinations in order to be admitted into the U.S. right? I remember reading somewhere (I could be wrong or maybe confused) but I thought I had read somewhere that the beneficiary needs certain vaccines to be admitted to the U.S. So if they don't get the vaccinations done, they aren't allowed in. Is this correct?

ucla_cutie, your fiance has to get the medical completed BEFORE the interview.

TRUE, it is not required that he has all his up-to-date vaccinations for k1.... HOWEVER, its a must for AOS.

you can save yourself some time and headaches by letting him complete his vaccinations at home. any doctor can do this, and he simply carries the record/vaccination card to the USCIS approved panel physician who is doing his medical (or you can get that physician do it if he/she can). the panel physician transfers that info on to the DS-3025 vaccination worksheet. *NOTE: make sure that panel physician provides a copy of the worksheet because you need it for AOS... (the original goes to the consulate gets packed up and presented at the POE when he enters the US).

When he arrives and you are ready to file AOS, he will take that copy of the DS-3025 to a USCIS approved civil surgeon. As a k1, he will NOT need to do a whole new medical. Rather, the civil surgeon only has to transfer the DS-3025 info on the I693A vaccination supplement.

Keep in mind that some shots are done in series and can be 4-8 weeks apart. So if you want to file AOS right away, he will need to already have all his shots.

Its a time and money saver for both of you, so get it done if you can. If not, then make sure that he gets them as soon as possible upon entry to the US.

I just got last week my medical exams and interiew at the US consulate here in Italy,

so for my experience and according to the rules of the US Consulate here, it's up to you

having the missing shots before the medical exams or having the missing shots at the US

Consulate, the difference is that here in Italy if you get the missing shots in a hospital

owned by the State are for free, if you have the shots in a private clinic or at the US consulate

you have to pay for it. So what I did was going to an hospital (after contacting them) where

they had my vaccination records and then after I had the new vaccinations, they updated my

records, so when I went to the US consualte I took and showed my records list, so actually I

was one of the very few people not having the shots at the US consulatesince I had my vaccinations

last January at the hospital (plus I saved at least Euro 40,00), the vaccinations that are required are

called "TD", "MMR" (against measles, mumps & rubella).

I read too that when we'll be in US we'll have to fill out a supplement for some other vaccinations, but at least, if in Mexico works like in Italy your fiancee can proceed already and after having the vacciantions

she can go to the interview with here updated vaccination list.

I hope my explanation might help you.

Good luck!!!!
