Hi All,

Perhaps someone could help me with a particular question.

My father is co-sponsoring my fiancee, but he files his taxes jointly with my mother. While his income covers the 125% poverty line requirement and is clearly noted on his W-2 forms, the tax returns themselves only list my parents' household income.

We intended to submit the following evidence only:

1. employer letter

2. pay stubs

3. tax returns (as evidence of income)

Given the joint return, however, will my Mother also need to file an I-134 and gather the accompanying evidence (i.e., employer letter and pay stubs)?

Note that my mother's W-2 forms are also included in the tax returns, so it is clear what she makes and what my father makes. I just wonder whether this will be evident to the Embassy reviewers or whether she must be included as a co-sponsor.

Many thanks in advance,

AJ

She can be included as an additional joint sponsor if it simplifies matters. But if you provide the tax returns and your father's W-2's only, then that should be fine.

You might want to add a page showing summaries of father's income versus jointly filed income with one sentence summary and explanation for each year you provide a tax return. You should probably provide three years returns.
