Hello everyone!

I have a job interview at Disney World tomorrow, my Green Card approval notice was sent on March 16th but we had a problem with the postage as we moved about a week after, has anyone got any experience regarding going to an interview while waiting for the card to be posted?!

I have read that I can accept a job and everything else, I just can't start working until the green card is physically in my hand. I tried calling the USCIS but they just told me there is nothing they can do/tell me about the case until April 16th when it has been 30 days (which is insane, they can't even tell me if it's been posted!)

I have a lot riding on this interview so I don't want to have any issues, my plan was to just print off the approval notice and explain the situation. Like I said, just looking to see if anyone has been through anything similar?

Thanks guys.

I guess you didn't apply for EAD? I would explain the situation to your employer, maybe they'll be willing to work something out if they really want to hire you. Is this the first interview? Because in this case you might be able to buy off a few more days as it usually (I'm saying usually--some people get jobs right away ;)) takes a little bit before you actually start, a lot of companies have a second interview, some have drug testing or medical examinations, so in this case you'd be ok!

Good luck on the interview! :star:

I applied for EAD also, it was approved like a day after my green card (which is insane) - I just got off the phone with USCIS again and they managed to put me through to someone with some kind of authority who told me it HAS all been mailed out, but the letters cannot be forwarded, so the probability is that my green card is lying in a garbage can somewhere or has been returned to the post office - unfortunately the post office 'system is down' which again shocks me, I don't know how someone looking through a box of returned mail can be down! The USCIS said they haven't received anything back from the post office so I'm going to call and call and call until someone gives me a straight answer.

Back on topic, this is my first interview yes and I know Disney are very human (my wife has been an employee for 3 years, going on 4) so I'm praying that I can explain the situation to them and they will let me call in as soon as I have the card - I might just drive to the post office and demand some answers though!

Thanks for the luck also!

In that case I'm sure you good to go if they somehow agree to wait until the situation is straightened out, keep us posted ok? Cheers!

Hey Vivi6, so I just got back from my interview and the first thing they asked me was about my authorisation to work in the United States! So I explained the story to my interviewer and she said that was not a problem as my green card had been approved and she could see it, however she could not officially offer me a job until I have it in my hand. She continued with the interview nontheless and has put me in for a swim test next week (job is as a lifeguard at Disney) so it looks as though I'm going to get the job, just as soon as I get my damn green card!
