if you are on F-1 you don't have to go home. You will have to renew your visa if you go home in order to come back to the USA, but not if you are already in the usa. The visa is valid until the duration of your education, again as long as you don't leave the country.

You can stay as long as you are in good standing at your school. You can't leave and come back on an expired visa. If your visa expires, and you want to leave, you will need another visa to return. An I-20 may be a work around ...

If you dont plan on leaving you will be fine.. just stay in good standing at the school.
