Why there are pinays out there who feels so conceited about theirselves once they arrived here in the States?

Cliche but "live and let live." ;)

I guess it depends na lang sa iyo if you want to be friends to a person like that. I dont hang out with filipinos here i didnt even try to find filipino friends here...why i didnt because i dont need them...

God bless you.

Ditto for that. :D

ummm...watch the language here. Not so many understand Tagalog

We can use our very own Filipino language as we please. We are in the Philippine sub-forum. :P

since we are all both filipinas in the room,,,i assume we speak our filipino language but this made of honor really speak english all the time and take note she is trying to pronounce it in american way,,, i talk to her in visaya way and she responded me in english,,i really want to knock her head and said hello we are all filipina here you don't have to speak english duh,,,i am really pissed off,,i believe no matter where we go we should not forget of what we are,,,

 Korek! Otherwise, it would just be another practice of discourtesy.

Ganahan kaayu ko mag-Cebuano-Visayan.

In my opinion, pinays who acted like that were the ones who came from a poor family and less educated. Being in US uplifts their spirit and usually when they were from a poor family, their family back in Philippines receive much attention for marrying a foreigner, so that adds to their ego.

there are filipinos na medyo nasasanay na sa english kaya minsan nahihirapan na magspeak ng filipino or dialect nila...minsan pa taglish taglish pa... i dont blame them kasi nandito ka na sa USA and mostly english ang language... of course yung mga pinoy na di masyadong marunong sa language dito will try so hard to learn to speak it fluently or even in a slang way... i dont blame them too. hindi purket pinoy kaharap mo eh they need to speak the same language your using when your talking to them... i guess the most important thing is nagkakaintindihan kayo sa usapan ninyo. hehehehehe...

just like me...minsan pag may nakakausap akong pinoy...we speak english minsan tagalog...minsan kasi nakakalimutan ko na yung words sa tagalog or bisaya kaya napapa english ako and same with other pinoy maybe not all but i know it happens...just like this janitress in the hospital...she barely speak english but she knew im filipino but we both talk to each other in english...hows that... but she was a nice and humble lady... for me wag na lang tayo magsiraan kasi tayo tayo rin lang naman to eh...pinoy ako, pinoy kayo, pinoy tayong lahat...so let it be na lang hahahahaha...hahay.

God bless sa lahat.

ay meron ako kilala. nakatuntong lang ng US of A pagbalik ng pinas eh di na marunong magtagalog! samantalang 3 years lang (yata) sya dito. at ito pa: ayaw na nya sumakay ng jeep or mag bus or mag van. taxi lang sya no! and lastly, hanggang ngayon eh panay pa din ang post nya ng mga OLD pictures nila (taken while they were in SFO years ago when they lived there) ng asawa nya sa facebook account nya. yung asawa nya pinoy din pero lahing east indian. mabait naman yun. yung girl lang ang sarap sabunutan! hehehe

NO OFFENSE meant on this one

Filipinas who are like this are covering up on something... they are insecured and these actions are their defense mechanism,,, dun sa nagpapaepekto well tao lang naman tayo para MAIRITA sa kanila but in the end if we keep on entertaining evil thoughts for these people, tayo rin and matatalo kasi ma STRESS kalang.....and just come to think of it bakit kailangang mapektuhan, maybe in the end hindi mo napapansin sarili mo eh nakikipag kompitensya ka narin sa mga taong walang kwenta....

I'm not pretty, I'm not rich...Marunong akong mag-english but hindi ako magaling...I'm just simple woman in love ... PEACE to all

Its the first sign to stay away :)

My husband and I have a wonderful FIL-AM group, in fact we are going boating today, and we just love them. Different personalities and yet we all get along so well.

You have the choice , so dont get stressed. If you feel they are acting high and mighty, ignore them. Life is too short to be stressed by people who think they are better than others :)

Have fun!!!

Removal of Conditions :

August 20, 2010 - NOA1 received

October 4, 2010 - Biometrics

January 3, 2011 - Permanent 10 yr. Green Card Received.

Long time no post ako dito (lurk lurk uli), but all I can say is, I can relate! Going on three years na ako dito, and yet wala pa rin akong befriended pinays. Meron dito sa city namin (and it's a very small city.. definitely within 5 mile radius ang bahay nila) na nung first kong na-meet was all "Are you Filipino?" pero nang malaman na at the time eh clerk ako sa drugstore, ang ere na. It really wasn't my loss.

I just have to say, hindi lang ito mga Pinay.. Pinoy din! May matandang lalake (I'd say about 60ish) na nagbabayad (same drugstore as mentioned above) at lumabas ang pangalan nya sa screen. Aba, sabi ba naman "Oh I'm Indonesian."

i really strongly agree with you twinkido,,,if you speak your native tongue to your receiver why respond in engligh and trying to prounce it in american way,,, i am not trying to be vendictive to my co-filipinas here i meet but i was trying to convey what i have experienced knowing the fact that when i ask this filipina----- "ilang taon kana dito" and she responded ----"i am just 8 months here",,, i don't think being 6 months would forget i mean totally forget your native tongue....

i agree with you too,,, there are filipinos who are already comfy in speaking foreign tongue,,,im not trying to be vendictive here but i don't think being here in US of A in 8 months would totally forget your native tongue,,, knowing the fact we are in foreign land and we are eager to find and talk someone here who has the same wavelenght we have,,,i meet this filipina in walmart from cavite,,,she is here for 25 years,,,her name is nora,, i am so amazed when she approaches with a big smile asking if i am filipino too,,,she talk to me in tagalog she did not even taalk to me in taglish,,,and again im not trying to be vendictive,,,i'm just portraying and sharing my expereinced..... :):):)

oops medyo di mo yata nabasa ng maayos ang sinabi ko heheheheheh but its okay...i said minsan nakakalimutan ko yung words not the whole language itself and it doesnt mean na itatakwil ko na yung dialect ko i never implied that. sometimes when people get used to something it happens... since sobrang makapinoy ka talaga i salute you for that. hehehehehehehe...

sometimes din at work you need to speak english...but for me wala akong issue about speaking english or filipino as long as you understand each other thats it. people sometimes make it an issue kasi... what matters most is yung ugali... kaya nga gaya ng sabi ko its better not to get involve with them...once you know na ganyan pala sya then stay away...bakit pa ipipilit kung di naman didikit...and once you started talking about them then i guess your like them na rin. Things are not that complicated...only people make it complicated. RIP to this.

God bless us all.

ahhh ok po cge po!no problem....medjo shock shockan lang kc lola mo nung sinabi mo na nakakalimutan mo ibang words (which i used language,Sorry about that)....parang for me, it's hello?????

hehehehehehe, sorry accepted...

for me wala ako care... mag english english ka dyan wala ako paki sino ba nahihirapan at nagnonose bleed...not me... ganun lang yun. minsan pa nga nakaka appreciate ako sa pinoy na fluent na sa english...minsan din napapatawa ako...though di naman ako fluent sa english but of course mas okay rin yung marami kang alam. and yun nga rin ang sakit ng pinoy...may marinig lang ng kapwa pinoy na nag eenglish eh iisipin agad na aba parang sino ito ah... iisang lahi nga tayo but then do we really think we are... by how we act towards each other i dont think so...mga pinoy lahing crab mentality not all though... ma parito man sa tate or sa pinas pare-pareho lang ang ugali ng pinoy.. not all. kaya yung iisang lahing sinasabi mo hay its just a saying minsan.

i dont blame some of pinoy na kinakalimutan ang pagiging pinoy dahil na rin sa mga masamang ugali or ways natin...kaya nga they'd rather embrace america kasi they dont care... mind your own business kumbaga.

sana lang wala ng topic na ganito kasi it only show one thing...SIRAAN.

God bless sa lahat.
