My husband has a 4 year college degree from the education college in Egypt. He has taught primary school and secondary school for about 14 years. Now that he is here we are trying to figure out what to do to get him certified to teach. They told us we need to send his transcripts off for a course by course evaluation. Has anyone been through this process?? Does anyone recommend one evaluation company over the others? They are asking for a GPA of 2.5 cumulative but they don't grade on that scale in Egypt. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!!!!

My wife is a teacher with a foreign (Canadian) undergraduate degree, an American graduate certificate and is one year away from finishing her American graduate degree. She's also done her student teaching here in America. So she's not quite as "foreign trained" as your husband, but has had to get a course-by-course evaluation of her foreign credentials. Her Canadian transcript doesn't use a /4 scale either, I think it was a /12 scale. She sent her transcripts over to the ECE (ece.org) and they did the evaluation for a fee. This was 3-4 years ago. You have to find out which credential evaluation agencies your state's teacher licensing authority will accept.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
