Threatening physical harm is just atrocious afaic....I get what is being said concerning our history and how war is always in our past and how it worked out to shape who we are as a people. (that may be in the other thread actually, I don't remember now). But at the end of the day, tampering with a politician based on threats of physical harm is no better than buying a vote. It's corrupt. This is not a WWF cage match. Our elected officials work for us, the way to get your message across is to be involved politically. And pursue legal methods when and if something arises. Threaten them with votes lost, not with life lost.

Unfortunately, until Washington is reformed in the way it works, they won't be working for us again anytime soon.

In speaking of that aspect of human nature, we are easily corrupted by 'perks' thrown our way or by guilt for accepting something with 'no strings attached.'

As long as lobbyists have power in Washington, the American people will rarely be listened to. Only the groups with the most influence on the reigning majority will get their say.

I support a balanced finance of political campaigns. Some sort of limit.

Elections should never be about who has the most purchasing power, it should be about who has the best message.

I also think that campaign ads should be scrutinized and honest as well. Slander/Libel, etc.. should not be acceptable to make your point.

Please, this government has not been accountable for their actions since beginning in 1913 gradually progessing up until the 1970s.

All of the accountability got tossed out the window when congress gained the ability to print money 'at will' without having to make other tough decisions.

Is the last economic crisis here a conspiracy? I really don't think so.

It was simple. The 'underground' derivatives market was allowed to spiral out of control, be unregulated, even all attempts to regulate were thwarted by no other than the chairman of the Federal Reserve... and now look at where we are?

Hell, if you look at the opposition to the Federal Reserve System in 1913 they warned about the ####### that could take place under it.

A fiat monetary system is never a good idea when paper money can just be printed out of thin air with nothing to truly back or hold its value.

I'm not saying the gold standard was feasible either to last into the modern age, but other commodity backing would have worked too.

I mean look at the debt we're in and look at how that debt has continued to spiral out of control since WWII. We have been bankrupt and in debt since the 1940s....

Something somewhere has to give and it has to begin in Washington.

Only one member of Congress has been killed in the line of duty. So I'm not buying into these threats. It's another phony miltia scare a al 1990s style.

Instead of trying to find fallacy in my argument you resort to, 'well unless someone with credentials X says this, you can't say anything.'

Especially when I mentioned nothing about how constitutional the Federal Reserve system is or isn't. All I was talking about were the dangers of the system and the problems stemming from the system.

I'll be more than happy to help you out if you can point out where I'm wrong on what I previously said about the system.

Oh and for the 'record' the consitutionality of the Federal Reserve has never been taken up by the SCOTUS.
