So everything with our visa was going great. We got our NOA2 on Feb. 23rd which was really fast. Once we got the letter though, I noticed a mistake on the NOA2. It said the valid period was only until March 23rd. It was supposed to be June 23rd.

So I was a little concerned and called in to check to see if that would be allright. I didn't think it would be a big deal and figured the embassy in Tokyo would know that the I-797 is valid for 4 months. But anyway, the guy who I talked to didn't really seem to 'get it'. So he filed a report. I didn't think anything of it at the time because I didn't think it was a big deal.

So my fiancee and I were waiting for her to get her packet, but nothing came. We got concerned and called the NVC. They said they had sent out our case on March 3rd. It was already the 20th when we called so we decided to call the embassy to see if they had got it. So we were charged 23 bucks just to call and they emailed me back the next day.

They told me that they had received the case on the 9th but the USCIS had requested that it BE SENT BACK TO THEM. (All this for a typo?? Couldn't they have just sent a letter?) So the embassy sent it back the same day to the NVC. The NVC finally told me that they had got it today and sent it on to the USCIS.

So it's on the way to the USCIS now. I can't believe the situation and I'm really worried. If I hadn't reported the typo, none of this would have happened I'm sure.

So has anyone ever experienced anything similar to this? Should I get a hold of the USCIS (I'm scared of them filing another report that somehow screws things up more) or wait for them to contact me?

Is there any way to make sure that the USCIS just fixes the typo and sends our case back out to NVC and then to Japan??? Does anyone have an idea how long it will take them (they should get our case at the end of this week or the beginning of next)

Please help and any prayers would be appreciated!

First, take a deep breath and calm down. This is all so nerve racking to begin with, let alone having problems along the way. It sounds like they have it all under control and it is going through the process as it should. Better to point out mistakes like that, than deal with having to do the entire thing all over again from square one. A typo is a human mistake, we all make them. It might knock you back a few weeks but it is beyond your control. I guess really all I can offer is some encouragement. There were a few times when I was freaking out, not sure what to do, and ended up just being patient and it all worked out. Hang in there!

Hopefully you'll receive a corrected NOA2 soon and things will be on thier way again.

We will say some prayers for the two of you and keep you in our thoughts.
