Dear Forum Members,

I am a US citizen living in Portugal with my husband, a British citizen. We are starting the process of applying for his K3 visa so we can move to the US and he can work. We have been in Portugal for over two years and can demonstrate we have permission to reside here. Does anyone out on the forum have experience filing their forms through the Lisbon embassy? I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through it before to get a sense of how easy or difficult the process was and an approximate time frame you experienced. We are up against a pretty tight time frame as he is in a job application process now!

You cannot do K-3 at the Consulate... In fact, you pretty much cannot do K-3 anymore.... You option is CR/IR1

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if the CR/IR1 can be done through the embassy?

ONLY a CR1/IR1 may be done via direct consular filing; no K1s or (the mostly defunct) K3s are or have ever been possible.
