Translate the Marriage Certificate

I'm gonna have my marriage certificate translated into English. I want to know if the original one or certified copy one(issued by Justice Department)should be given to the translation service. My problem is that on the original certificate, the name of the city where my husband resides is wrong (Saint... but they typed Sant...). I asked them to recorrect but they said it is ok as long as his personal info. is right. They recorrect that on the certified copy for me anyway.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

They have to certify that it is a "true" copy - which means any typos should be translated as it is written on the original document.

If they make changes in translation, it is no longer a "true copy", but altered.

I would suggest you get the original corrected if you are worried about the info, but since it is the city, I would not be that concerned.

Use the certified marriage cert. when submiting to NVC or CIS. Also used that as a translation. I believe that you have 10 certified copy right.
