Hi VJers,

I am flying with my fiance to Seattle on April 3. We're on delta and the flight leaves Manila at 840am. We will be flying in from Davao the night before around 5pm. Recommendations on what I should do for a night? She also needs to pick up her CFO sticker at NAIA. They are supposed to be open 530am-midnight. I am not sure if Delta would let me check in the bags ahead of time (night before). I really don't wanna blow extra money on a room for a few hours. Need that money for the wedding. HELP!

Time to alter your plan. You need the CFO sticker before you show up at the airport.

Has she attended the CFO seminar?

^ Dianne is correct: you can not get a CFO sticker at NAIA. You will need to go to Manila one day earlier than planned in order for her to get her CFO sticker.

That's assuming she has already completed the seminar.

Let me clarify. She will attend the seminar on the 22nd. Her VISA is on hold at the embassy so she can't get the sticker. The VISA will be sent to her house in Davao where we will be until April 2. I called the CFO office and they said just pick up the sticker at NAIA. Now the question is still what do I do from 5pm the night before until the next morning.

It seems that you can pick up the CFO sticker at NAIA. Has anyone tried this?

From the CFO web site:

Who are allowed to register at the CFO-NAIA Desk Office?

The following Filipino emigrants may be allowed to register with the CFO-NAIA Desk Office:

Filipino spouses and other partners previously granted permanent residence status in the country of destination

Filipino spouses and other partners of foreign nationals who have completed the pre-departure counseling requirements, as evidenced by a genuine counseling certificate

Filipino emigrants exempted from attending the PDOS or peer counseling under special circumstances

Filipino emigrants with permanent residence visa issued abroad who will be exiting from the Philippines

Emigrants whose visas will expire within three (3) working days of their issuance

Other emigrants under meritorious circumstances, as may be approved by the Executive Director or the duly authorized representative

Hint: it's her last night in Pinas for a long while!

Check in at the City State Hotel ($35) and then walk over to Robinson's Mall and treat her to her last real Filipino meal for a long time.

Or, take a taxi from City State to the Mall of Asia and enjoy dinner there. Then get some sleep before your flight.

Total cost including hotel room, dinner, and all taxi rides = under $100.

Great advice. Thanks very much.

yeah plenty of affordable priced hotels in the Robinson Mall area. I have stayed at Lotus garden and Pearl Garden hotels. Pearl garden was better than Lotus...(lotus was pretty loud early in the morning...although you will be up and probably on your way to the airport by then).

the advice above was good though. I havent checked out that hotel, but I was looking for one that had breakfast and fairly nice since we were going to be staying for a little while in manila.

Last time I flew in from Manila, I had a connecting flight the next morning. The US airline told me they would not accept any luggage more than 4 hours before the flight left the gate.

Any reason why they are holding her visa?

I waited for my visa on hand before booking my ticket.

Anyway goodluck:)

Here is another thought: maybe it would be better for you to stop by the CFO-NAIA office when you arrive in Manila, rather than the next morning before your flight. There might be a long line of people at the CFO-NAIA office in the morning, and you could miss your flight.

Has any VJer received their CFO sticker at the CFO-NAIA office? What was your experience there?
