Hello everyone,

Thanks for reading my frustration... My financee just had her K1 interview today in GuangZhou, China. Unfortunately she received a few colored slips (blue, pink, green) indicating more information is needed.

The 3 items missing or need additional documents:

1. 3 years worth of tax records (i only provided one year, since that's what was mentioned in her packet!)

2. Entire copy of my passport, noterized. (my copy did not include the blank pages, my mistake)

3. A more detailed description of how we met, and what we did each time I went to China to see her. (the guy did not even bother to look at our flight tickets, phone records, etc.)

She was told to mail the additional docs back to GuangZhou along with her colored slips.

The Embassy will then review and notify her if this has been approved, or addtional interview is needed.

Questions:

1. Has anyone else experienced similiar situation??

2. How long does it usually take for the Embassy to review the material again?

3. How do I know if the additional information is enough?

4. Do most people usually get their visa approved after submitting additional info? what's my odd?

5. Should I hire an immigration lawyer at this point?

Really dont want to screw this up any further... Any help appreciated! Thanks guys!

For meaningful assistance at this point, we would need to know the exact wording of the requests for information including any stated reasons for the requests. Multiple slips with multiple requests is complicated. Take it seriously and make sure all requests are completely complied with.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll have to wait for her to email / fax me the exact details when she gets back.

I was wondering about the different colored slips. Interestingly it's one request per slip.

Is a lawyer necessary at this point?

We can't know that until we know the exact reasons given on the various slips. It could be that she just needs to return with more documents and will be eventually granted a visa.

I wouldn't let the various slips throw me - it's obviously just the way that consulate does things.

That's correct. The colors do mean something but without the text to go with them, I couldn't say much more. She should also write a very detailed report of the interview experience, as near verbatim as possible.

Whatever you do, this is a time for calm and careful action. Don't rush. Get all the information.
