If that's the argument, then people unable to procreate should be denied the right to marry as should those that make a choice not to procreate. And, just to swing back to Steven's very valid point, interracial couples are quite obviously able to procreate so there should never have been any notion or support for any ban of interracial marriage either. And yet, there was as recently as a few short decades ago.

And, you have no concept of cultural norms. You can't legislate acceptance. I, among many, will never accept gay marriage, and will continue to act accordingly. This sentiment is especially strong in Black communities, and DC is a large Black community.

Your argument about procreation as the basis for allowing / disallowing people to marry is the dog that don't hunt because it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. People unable or unwilling to procreate are allowed to and do marry each and every day. Try to make an argument that makes sense.

It was a cultural norm to be prejudice against interracial marriages. Gay marriage follows in that same path and will vindicated by a Supreme Court ruling that I'm willing to bet will refer to the earlier ruling on interracial marriage bans.

Cool, so you're not going to marry a chick. That's an option available to you. Just as I will make use of my option not to marry a dude. But who the ** am I - or you - to tell another person whether or not they should be able to elect to marry a person of the same sex as long as they are consenting adults?
