Just wait until they mail you. It's useless trying to send it in separately without the Request For Evidence (RFE). Without that, they won't be able to figure out which file it goes with.

They don't require the USCs' birth certificate at this stage as I recall. The guide only mentions the immigrant's birth cert.

I just realize that I forgot to include the copy of my sponsor's birth certificate in the package... I found it on the corner of the desk...

SO WHAT DO I DO NOW? Send the whole package again? Or just this piece of information? What should I say in the mail?

Thank you!

Since this is the AOS section, the instructions for the I-485 specifically states to include a copy of the BC.

You have to wait for the RFE and then be ready to mail it back.

That's a good point. On second reading it doesn't indicate that it's a cosponsor. I guess I just assumed that it was the cosponsor's BC.

When they review your packet and they might send it back for not being complete. I would not send in the packet again

Yeah. I assumed the OP meant the USC (hence the term 'sponsor') but will wait for clarification. :)

Sorry for the confusion. I am filing for AOS. My husband is USC and his mother is the joint sponsor. I did include his birth certificate but I forgot to put his mother's in the packet by mistake.

So what I need to do now is to wait?

Yep, just wait. At least when you get the RFE, you won't be confused (at least we hope you ONLY get RFEd for THAT!!) or surprised.

Reread the thread - the OP forgot to send their joint sponsor's birth certificate to establish her citizenship with the affidavit of support. The USC spouse's citizenship should have long been established (otherwise the alien would not have gotten the visa).

In fact, I'm not even sure the OP needed to send it to accompany the USC spouse's I 864. I didn't send a copy of mine when I submitted my I 864 for my husband. It doesn't hurt to send it I don't suppose, but I've never seen it as a requirement.

so the united states citizen needs to include there birth certificate along with the beneficiary ?

In the official checklist of I-864 (attached with the instructions) it says joint sponsor needs to submit their Birth Certificate/passport copies if s/he is USC. I hope they don't need it. I wonder if RFE will slow down the process?

Thanks for clarifying. I concur with Nik+Heather.

Thanks! I guess I will just wait.
