Concerning the copy of our BC that we must submit with the form I 485, is it ok if I translate it myself? (joining a letter stating that I am fluent in both French and English?)

Also, the copy of the BC I have is dated October 2009, would that be a problem? See in France we are not given our official BC, we can only request for an original copy of it, so the last copy I have is from back when I applied for the k1 visa, and so is dated Oct 2009.

Thanks in advance :)

You could certify a translated copy yourself, yes.

Shouldn't be a problem - FYI, you could always request an International Version of the BC (that's what we both have).

Thanks for your reply. Where did you request an international version of your BC? I did not know it existed!

We were both born in Germany - we requested them from the same place a 'regular' one would be obtained. I'm fairly certain you may do so in France as well (has to do with some treaty/accord which I'm sure France is a part of - ours has French on it as well as a lot of other languages).

If it is available to you, you don't have to get one for USCIS, but they're nice to have.
