Hi all,

I am sure this question was asked before, but there is the following that I would like to understand:

Documents referring to you and your spouse:

• Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or

• Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or

• An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years.

Last night, I had a discussion with my wife about what to send, and she was saying we should most of the items they list here.

If we send Tax returns, bank accounts, leases and birth certificates of children, will we piss them off or has it been done?

People do this every day - it's even in VJ's Guides; am not sure how it would piss them off, it's kind of what they need to see.

You have the three different options. Send what you feel will work best for you. As we had a lot of documents submitted over the years (my ROC covered 4 years!) I just submitted the basics - the tax transcripts - as they were the easiest and were available for free from the IRS. I took lots of other supporting documents with me to the interview, just in case, but they weren't requested. Other VJers have sent in lots of documents that supported their marriage. It seems fine either way. If you go with the basics, you can always bring in all of the other supporting documentation with you to the interview because you know you will have an interview.

We send the following documents, are these good enough???

• 2006, 2007 and 2008 tax return
  
• utility bills both our names
  
• joint bank statement
  
• letter from the bank stating when we started doing business with them
  
• letter from my employer that my spouse is my beneficiary to my 401k and life insurance
