Wow what a ridiculous amount of red tape. Glad it is all working out after all!

We went the CR1 route and initially considered getting married in NJ where my husband lives. The requirements in our county were totally inconvenient as well. In the end instead of a fall ceremomy in NJ we moved it up a few months and got married in the summer in North Carolina. Applied for the license one day, got married the next and had our registered certificates in hand the same day.

I am doing the medical again, i read a lot of cases with RFE because missing that I693... already have an appointment in two days... New Jersey ask for a lot of things to get the marriage license but we got it very fast...

I am a bit nervous but hopefully everything will turn out ok... i just want to end this part...

Hey all, I'm still alive! Life has just been pretty hectic, trying to get a job (FINALLY got one with UPS, woo hoo!), a whole bunch of birthdays, and our honeymoon. We went to Florida for a week, I drove down since Peter can't drive here, 1000+ miles both ways, but it was really awesome. My Mom is pushing us so hard for grandkids, but heck no! Not yet! Uterus is closed! :P

We are waiting on my step-dad's 2007 taxes before we can file AOS, everything else is done, even money, finally. I'm glad I read Veka's story about the license, they gave us hell just for trying to get a non-driver's license state ID because he doesn't have an EAD or greencard yet. Geez louise, this country.

Hope everyone's doing awesomely. I love the pictures, solmarc! Yaaaay Team Feb Filers!

Before Journey:

Met online in 2002 as friends. Fell in love in 2005. Got engaged in 2010.

K-1 Journey, January 2010-July 2010:

NOA1: January 29. RFE: April 21. NOA2: June 4. Interview: July 15. Visa in hand: July 20. POE: July 22.

July 24, 2010: Married in front of 150 of our loved ones on a beautiful, sunny day. Living happily ever after and oh so thankful that 5 years of a long distance relationship and 7 months of a visa process is condensed into one line.

Wedding pictures! Because I'm shameless. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/ae47/AmeriDaneWedding/

Adjustment of Status Journey, January 2011-March 2011:

January 25: NOA1 for AOS and EAD. Feb 5: Bio appointment received. Feb 7: RFE. Feb 11: Sent RFE response. Feb 23: AOS transfered to CSC. Feb 25: Biometrics. March 11: EAD approved! March 19: Received EAD. March 21: AOS approved! March 25: GC in hand!

And we'll live happily ever after.. for the next 2 years, anyway.

Lohninck, my handsome face could get that uterus to open. Yeah baby, I'm the man. By the way, you are a good yankee. You figured out I-95 is not a one way street. It does have northbound lanes. I just had to pick on you. You know I love you.

Latest Veka story. Last Saturday, me being the redneck that I am I went duck hunting. A very good hunt. One of my buddies had made a jerky with some of the deer we have killed this year. I came home from the duck hunt with a gallon size bag of jerky. I went in the house and offered Veka some jerky. She asked what is it? I told her it was venison jerky from a deer we shot the week before. She proceeded to turn her nose up at the idea and said "nyet." Okay I thought. Well Sunday morning I'm in my office working on my computer. She calls my name. I turn around and she is standing in the door holding the bag of jerky. This how the conversation went. "You not eat anymore of this. It is for me. It is good with beer. It is too spicy. This is for me." I thought what the h@ll. First, yesterday you acted like I offered you human meat. Today, you complain that it is too spicy but you tell me twice I can't have any. Third, get out of my beer, it is a little early in the morning for that. Oh, I forgot, one doesn't have to wait for 12 if amongst friends or eating. Fourth, it is a huge bag, plenty for both of us. I am turning her into a redneck, a "Russian redneck." This weekend I am sure she will be happy when I go deer hunting and start making jerky for her. What a life I lead. To keep her from eating it all I will have to make my batch especially spicy. I am sure that when I get home Friday, I will have no jerky left. I hope she leaves me a beer though.

Solmarc, we take the meat and slice it into thin small pieces. I then marinate mine for two or three days in soy sauce, liquid smoke, brown sugar, garlic salt, and cayenne pepper. Then I put it in a smoker for about 6 hours on low heat. Jerky one can buy in a store is tough and chewy. I make mine to where it falls apart in your mouth. That is also the way my hunting buddies make it. Everyone has their own recipe for the marinate sauce. Usually when I break out a bag of it, it does not last long. No, I don't use roadkill possum. Maybe I'll try that.LOL.

From what I've read on VJ, which could be wrong, there isn't much of a time limit as long as you're married within the 90 days. I've seen a lot of folks not apply until 5 or 6 months and even as far as 3 years after getting married on a K-1 visa due to money issues or other problems, whatever it may be, and still make it out fine. Again, just what I've gathered, but I'm pretty sure it's at your own accord, and most people just want it personally done with ASAP.

Ah ok, well that's good news. We have a lot of financial obligations cluttered into the next month or so, so fronting $930 just to submit the AOS is a laughable option right now. This adventure has already squeezed closed to $1500 from Joe. I didn't work all summer so that I could spend the summer in the US, so we've had only 1 income since the spring.

Ok, so...to my understanding, the only major submissions are the AOS, EAD, I-512 Early Parole? And if these are the only ones, does anyone know the costs of each? We already know the AOS is $930

So Les, how did you obtain all this #######? Did you take your marriage certificate to the immigration office and they gave them to you to take home? Or did you fill them out there, hand over the cash and they sent them off? What's the process of it all?

Sorry for my questions, this last week has been hectic with scheduling, thanksgiving and the wedding, parents...oh goodness, parents....and umm, the Army. So my mind is scattered.
