It's too black and white. We need more gray areas and rainbows.

Haha. I get it. Do you have an honest bone in your body?

Her selective outrage would indicate the later. However, having dealt with parents of mentally handicapped children, they are quite fierce when it comes to people using that word.

Yep.

You know.... we're talking about a guy, a well known celebrity in conservative circles who reaches many thousands (millions?) of people.

As I say, either one is offended by the word or one isn't. Surely begs the question as to why Palin took issue with this in the first place - was it because she was genuinely offended by the use of the world, or because it got her some more exposure?

Personally yes I think it was political, it usually is and Im not too crazy about that, she will not make as big of a deal about it as she did with Rahm, you dont bite the hand that feeds you and also your comparing apples to oranges(top offical/talk show host).

Lets take your average liberal, most have written Rush of as a racist and think anybody with half a brain can see that, that said why would you not take Rahm words more serious than some racist talk show pundit?

One. And it throbs.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

We're not talking about "words". we're talking about the use of a word regardless of context.

were talking about who said it and what the significance of that is and considering what you think of Rush it leads me to the conclusion that you are once again resorting to your biased ways and attacking Palin for not coming down as hard on Rush.

A top official in the white house making such a comment is not the same as a radio talk show host, most would agree with me on this one.

I agree with this. However, I also think that "retarded", the adjective, is less offensive than "retard", the noun.

If the issue at hand is that the use of the words "retard" or "retarded' amounts to the equivalent of a racial slur to people with developmental disorders (or their families) then the issue is with the use of those terms in a public setting and not with who says them.

The mistake that Rahm made was not calling said retards "articulate and clean", or "light skinned with no Nego dialect". He should have noted that a few years ago, they would have served him coffee, and commented on how so many of them had East Asian accents and worked at 7Elevens.

All of these comments have been forgiven. Just don't call them "Macacas" or you're toast.
