do you work on 1 project together start to finish? or do you work individually & combine your work in the end to create the body of work?

Like all projects, ours are is divided into tasks, the majority of which depend on the proper completion of other tasks. If you think there are multiple discrete streams of work that simply get magically merged at the end, you'd be wrong.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

so what - it ain't free & i must pay to enjoy the fruits of others labor.

What's your obsession with paying? The fact is, you rely on other people to live how you want to live. If they weren't there to do the tasks that need to be done, no amount of money would make you able to live in the way you do. You rely on group efforts, that's it.

so you work as an individual...then your work is combined into the teams results.

no obsession, i used it as an example....nothing is given for being a part of. you work for money so you can have what you need or want....how many people work to make your paycheck? 1 ... yah thats what i thought.

Your train appears to have run off the track. People work in groups in order to be able to have a better life than they could if they worked as an individual. Without the co-operation of others in doing the things that you can't, or will not do, your life would be very, very different, and very, very primative.

call it what you want. its reality. you can depend on yourself 100% of the time. you can depend on others ???% of the time. the next time you go into your bosses office to ask for a raise or do your evaluation...remember this thread.

You're missing the point - the fact that you can drive a car to work is because other people took the time and effort to design it, build it and take it to the dealer.

If you don't want to be "dependent" on someone in any context, then surely you will be looking to design and build your own car. Perhaps blow your own glass and forge your own steel too...

none of the above.

i won't let my kids play team sports. unless you count wrestling, boxing, fencing, tennis, golf, track, swimming...etc..any 'team sport' that when you perform you are alone 1-1 & your score adds to the team total. team sports create a false sense that others will make up for your short comings. & lets be honest, when you fall short the list of people coming to your aid is a very short list.

Do you have some objective support for this statement? Or are you saying that team sports created that sense in you? Do you think you might be overgeneralizing just a bit?

 Reality is that you are part of a co-operative group, not a single entity operating on your own. You are depending on others to play their part in society 100% of the time, unless you are living in a cave.

I think Smoke has one huge chip on his shoulder, that's for sure. How it got there? Who knows, but not allowing your kids to participate in team sports because other's in the team might 'let the team down' is pretty facile.

Money is simply the vehicle by which you can decide how to spend the credit you amassed by providing someone else with a service/labour. The pool of commodities that you can spend your money on is determined by how co-operative the society is that you live in. The more it co-operates, the better your commodities.

I'd say, "They're gonna lose in most matches and they don't want you to have that heartache so the coach had to remove you from the team. Now that you're no longer a part of the team, you could stop caring if they don't get to win." :P

Kidding aside, I'd tell my kid number 6.

i know cleo has her head up her a$$ & NEVER reads what is posted. she reads what she wants. i didn't say other's in the team might 'let the team down' you did. i said when it comes right down to it the only person on your team is the person in the mirror. so its best that a kid learns that early. like the examples i gave in sports..wrestling, swimming..etc. yes they can be part of a team. but, they can rely on themselves.

You said it, not me.

That's exactly what does happen in many team sports, others make up for the things you can't do particularly well yourself. Just like in society.
