I want to prepare things ahead of time that is why I am starting to gather up all the necessary papers needed in renewing my Philippine Passport. I have some concerns about this process though because I don't know how to and where to start. I need your help guys especially for those who had already tried renewing their passport here in the states.

My questions are:

1. My Philippine passport will expire on February 2011, when should I start the process?

2. How much is the fee?

3. Where to renew it?

4. What are the requirements?

5. Does it require a personal appearance?

For now that's all I can think of. Any response is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all!

Hi mommy ady,

we are going to san francisco next week for my passport renewal and ammendments. and also to apply for Jacob passport. I just had prepared all my requirements yesterday. Here are the requirements. Btw...mine also will expire Feb 2011.

What do I need to renew my Philippine Passport?

The Consulate is receiving applications for the new Machine Readable Passport (MRP) beginning June 02, 2008. The old “green” passport is no longer issued.

Each applicant must personally appear at the Consulate, except for minors 8 years old and below and senior citizens 65 years old and above, and bring with them the following:

Duly accomplished passport application form

Most recent Philippine passport

One (1) copy of the passport data page(s)

For brown passports – copy the pages which show the data and picture of the applicant

Two (2) identical photos taken within the last six months of size 4.5 cm by 3.5 cm on a Royal Blue background. Complete details on photo requirements for the MRP may be viewed at www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/PHOTO%20GUIDELINES.pdf.

USPS Express Mail Postage Stamps

It takes about six (6) weeks to process the MRP as the approved applications are sent to a central processing facility in the Philippines.

If the applicant’s last passport is the brown one – which only shows the applicant’s middle initial, – a copy of any VALID IDENTIFICATION which shows his/her WHOLE MIDDLE NAME must also be provided. Acceptable forms of identification are:

Birth Certificate

Marriage Certificate

Baptismal Certificate

State ID or Driver License, or

Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

First time applicants must also bring the original and a copy of

NSO certified Birth Certificate, if born in the Philippines; or

Report of Birth, if born outside the Philippines (Please see requirements for Report of Birth)

The fee for the issuance of a passport is $50.00Accepted forms of payment are cash, money order, cashier’s check or bank draft made payable to the Philippine Consulate General. Personal checks, credit or debit cards are not accepted. All consular service fees are non-refundable.

I hope this helps...but because you want to renew maybe you want to ammned it under your married now. Just my suggestion :)

Thank you all!

since it's still good for one more year, you can wait til next year to renew it, but if you want to do it early ,these are the answers to your questions:

this should answer your questions:

5. What if the applicant is unable to appear in person at the Consulate to file his or her renewal?

Passport applicants must appear at the Consulate to renew their passport. The only exception are senior citizens 65 years old and above and minors 8 years old or below.

The Consulate has intensified its mobile outreach missions to reach out to applicants who may not be able to come to the Consulate for the purpose of applying or renewing their passport.

ady & evelyn, share ko lang experience ko ha dahil tapos na me nag renew ng passport last year dahil may outreach ang Los Angeles embassy d2 sa Arizona kya di na me pumunta pa ng LA. First, i reported my marriage sa LA with all the required docs then send all my docs for renewing passport to LA embassy and that's under my married name na. Di na me nag apply pa ng ammendment kc parang understood na yun na ung new paaport na ni-renew mo ay under ur married name na. Now, passport ko ay married name na talaga. Hope my experience helps.

Hi, I hope someone could help. I'm a Philippine green passport holder which is good until April 2012. Is it necessary to renew it with the machine-readable even if it doesn't expire yet until in 2 years?

I'm planning to go home this year, would you recommend having the passport renewal ( married name change too ) done in the Philippines? Thanks!

Reunited for good and it feels so good!

How long will you be in the PI? It took Mhay about a month to get her passport renewed. If you will be there at least 1 month, I would do that. I believe there is an expedite to get it quicker though. The new passports are machine readable, so it would be cheaper to do it when you are in the PI and you dont have to get it renewed until it expires as far as I know. Check out the DFA site though. I believe you can set-up for an appointment so you dont have to wait in line for a long time too.

Hello,

PH Green passport is valid until the expiry date so don't worry…be happy…lol

If you renew your passport in Philippines under married name, make sure to submit REPORT OF MARRIAGE ABROAD to the Consulate in L.A. You will be asked for it when you renew your passport.
