Anyway, we sent off our daughters Green Card application on January 26th 2010.

Here's hoping we all have a speedy resolution on these applications.

Congratulations Eli, did you get the case# at the NVC? if not, start calling the NVC, register your email address and her too. It is faster to communicate at the NVC, once they have both of your email. Also you can pay thru online and it's a faster processing than the regular mailing procedure.

May we know what type of petition are you applying for? Some petition takes a while depending what type of visa you filed. If spousal, parent, children under 21 it should be faster because it's an Immediate Relative visa, but if sibling, nieces, etc then it will take years to process.

There is a distinct lack of info on what happens next for cases like ours on VJ. Bummer.

I just followed what Raj456 did and so far I'm getting a faster response from the NVC. You need to call the NVC, give your USCIS receipt number in order to get your case number, once it's available then you can register your e-mail address and your daughter's e-mail address. If she doesn't have one you can create hers that way you have the access. I did it to my mom, since she don't know how to use the computer I just created one for her and I gave it to the NVC operator. Then in a few days I got my AOS fee bill which cost $70. You can pay it online too you just need a checking account since they don't accept credit card payment. But take note don't pay unless you receive the invoice, the invoice is also from the e-mail. Hope this help

Actually, as much as I want my daughter to be here, we do want things to go a bit slower ... and here's why!!!

My daughter is 17, 18 in June. When her Mum and I broke up we never had a custody ruling as we had 50/50 custody by agreement with the judge. That said, custody in the UK ends at 16 so is null and void.

So, we have nothing to say whether my ex or I had custody. And we can't go to family court to get a judge to assign me custody as she is too old for a judge to pass down any ruling on.

We figure if we wait til she is 18 then custody papers won't be an issue but her Mum says if it happens before that she will go with her and give whatever declarations she has to in the embassy.

Bit of a bind, eh?

Hi, I also mailed my petition for my mother on Dec 29, 2009 and got NOA1 on Jan 6, 2010. Since then, i have heard nothing. IR5 - for parent. I'm a US citizen.

But the others who filed in Jan already got NOA2 in Mid-Mar. Is there something wrong with ours?
