can't do anything about it until it gets to the consulate...

If it becomes an issue at the interview, you'll explain and correct. What else?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I make a mistake on my timeline on one of the date that I came to Vietnam. I wrote down on the timeline 2/07 instead of 1/07. My file currently is pending at uscis. What should I do now? Thanks

Its not the end of the world, you made a mistake. WE ALL MAKE THEM!!! I am sure you have supporting documents, boarding passes etc that show the correct date. If it comes up at the interview just honesty explain that a mistake was made. Dont sweat it too much now as it is done. Be strong, keep the faith and BEST WISHES!!!!

Once the consulate gets the file, you can email them a corrected copy explaining the typo. Bernie emailed them a copy and it seemed to get put in the file.

Yes as Scott said, I emailed a copy (sorry I did not mention that).

About two weeks before Doans interview at the consulate I emailed a scanned copy of our notarized timeline to the consulate. I received a reply that they would put it into our file. (The reply also stated that they could not do anything with it because it had to be review by a CO and the persons responding to the email are only staff members). But that was exactly what I wanted - just to get a copy in the file! As a matter of fact, at the interview they never even requested the original notarized copy!!

If you go that route you may want to include a cover letter that states there was an error on the original timeline submitted and this is a revision to superceed the original (something to that affect).

It's not too uncommon for this type of mistake, even though we all review and review and review, we still make little errors.

Good Luck To You Both!

Thats a minor mistake but you can mail a corrected letter to the USCIS before they approve of your visa and then they will not be able to use it against you. I made a mistake but only worse luckly I had hired Mr Ellis here is the info he sent me on it. He also typed the corrected letter for me.

9 FAM 42.43 n2.1

"In general, knowledge and reason to believe must be based upon evidence

that USCIS did not have available at the time of adjudication and that such

evidence, if available, would have resulted in the petition being denied. This

evidence often arises as a result of or during the interview of the beneficiary.

Reason to believe must be more than mere conjecture or speculation—there

must exist the probability, supported by evidence, that the alien is not

entitled to status.

I don't know if I have ever heard of a case being denied for a reason that was front loaded when the USCIS was aware of it before they approved of it.

I think if the consulate wants to deny you like they did with my wife in her first interview they will make up lie's or they will ask her a million questions trying to get them to give different awnsers to the same questions so they can deny.

We submitted a corrected letter about how we met. Since it was threw a friend it was a big red flag and VIetnam loves to deny those. The CO asked me and her seperatly how we met and it was almost word for word of the corrected letter we submitted to the USCIS. I told the CO about the corrected letter and he put his hand up to stop me from talking about it.

Action speak louder than words or any red flags. When they called me in I was so emotional I had tears in my eyes. Nobody in that waiting room showed any emotion. The CO kept telling me not to worry everything was ok and I seen he had stamped approved on our papers. You show them you love your wife by going there and don't be afraid to show them how much you love her and they will give you the visa.

Bryonm4,

Do you have uscis's address? My case currently is pending at CSC. I even don't have NOA1 notice, it was lost in transit, I only have receipt number provided by USCIS (phone inquiry). thanks

I think your mistake is minor unless you have major red flags I don't think they will use that against you. There was another person on here that listed there mothers dob wrong on the 325 forum they didn't notify the USCIS but notified the consulate and were told it wasn't going to affect there case and they got the visa.

The thing is they might ask your wife the date of your trips and if she lie's they can find her inadmissable so you want to make sure you notify the consulate of the mistake before your interview. You can easly prove that by showing your plane tickets and a copy of your visa.

But I guess its up to you

They asked Thuy when I was there and matched her responses to the timeline and my visa stamps. They asked every trip arrival and departure more than once and even tried to confuse her with some questions but she took her time and responded correctly every time. I suggest the correct info be noted so they can't hang you with it

Scott

They asked many questions they interviewed her first then they called me in. They went back and forth between us many times. Here is some of what I could remember and if I remember more I will post it later.

asked us both but not at same time

How did you meet?

When was the last time you made love?

What are you plans after this? when did you arrive? when do you go back? and when would she go back?

What city did I stop in before I got to Vietnam?

How much money did you send her?

Do you have proof?

Have you ever been outside of the USA?

Where do you work?

Do you want to have children?

Do you use contraceptitves?

Asked us both together

How do you communicate with your wife?

Tell your wife to make dinner plans and invite me.

The cantonise translator then asked my wife what I said

What is your husbands favorite food

What does he like on his pizza

They asked my wife

How come your husband sent you that much money?

Can you speak english?

What color of shirt do I have on?

Thats all I remember so far its not in exact order
