Well both of us are in our early 30s, less than a year apart in age, known each other since 2004 through mutual friend, kept in touch but did not meet in person until summer 2009, never married, no kids, both native Chinese, both speaks Mnadaring fluently, she's not a CCP member, interviwing @GUZ in a few weeks, do we still need this 'Evolution of Relationship' letter for GUZ? Thanks!

need? no.

Is it helpful ? Many say yes, including myself.

I suggest you write one, and she has it in her hands on interview day.

IF you are going to be in GUZ that day, for the interview - then it's a GREAT THING to

Fold it longwise, put it in YOUR passport - SHE hands the passport to the VO DURING the interview.

I would focus on :

1. when you became BF/GF

2. when you became engaged

3. the trips you've made, with dates , duration, and where you went.

4. your intent to marry with her.

5. HOW YOU COMMUNICATE - since you both speak mandarin - focus on this a bit - as many white slips these past 12 months because of lack of VOs understanding on HOW you two communicate.

You should be able to keep it down to one page, but remember, yer not writing a love-novel - just something that has data in it. Remember - the VO can't focus too much on long detailed documents during the interview.

MANY USCs go in to ACH to get this EOR letter notarized - there is GOOD CHANCE that the ConOff doing the notarization work is also the same VO on her interview day. So, there is some 'small help' there, the VO knows of YOU, prior to interviewing HER. If I understand yer trip calendar though, that may not be an option for you, prior to interview day.

Good Luck!

Sorry for being a newbie, but what is ACS, and what is ACH?

Also, since I may be going to ACH, how do I get this letter notarized?

OK, looks like I am going to be able to make it to the ACH. I will be in China on the 31st, and will spend the morning reviewing paperwork with her, and go to the ACH in the afternoon. This is what I found out so far:

ACH is American Citizen Hour, the website says this: http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/ni...estions.html#12

"Who can come with me to the interview?

In general, adult applicants should be prepared to be interviewed alone, one at a time by a consular officer. Minor children may be accompanied by a guardian adult, and at the consular officer's discretion those needing assistance or escort may be interviewed together with another individual. American citizens may not accompany applicants to the interview, but are welcome to attend our American Citizen Hour every Monday from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m."

My next question is, to have this letter notarized, do I need to make an appointment prior, or just walk up to a staff and say I would like to have a piece of paper notarized? Sorry again for being a newbie.

I get confused on appointments - one needs it, the other doesn't.

ACH - American Citizen Hour

ACS - American Citizen Services (notary work done during this time )

I can't guarantee you can get notary work done during ACH, some ppl are turned away during this time, for notary work.

acs info is here - http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/ap...ices030708.html

notarial services here - http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/no...ces_260608.html

OK, thanks Darnell. I am going to make an appointment to have the letter notarized by the ACS, then attend the ACH. So, there is a good chance that the staff notarizing my letter on the ACS, not the ACH, is the same staff who will interview her?
