I'm going to be in the US for another 2 weeks visiting my husband before we're able to send off our I-130 petition. I may be jumping the gun, but I was curious, is there anything I need to do before I leave for the NVC stage of the game? So we can cut down on mailing back and forth. Can I sign some forms now? Can I get anything organized now while I'm still here? I know I haven't even started yet, but I wanted to get as much done as possible while I'm here so maybe I can cut some time down while we wait to get approved by USCIS. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Our Timeline:

I-130 sent (finally!!): 2/3/10

Received in Chicago: 2/5/10

Hi,

Yes, you can fill out and sign the DS-230 part 1 (you don't sign part 2 until the interview).

You should read this NVC guide, it will help you to know what you need for documents etc - so you can have 100% of it prepared and ready to send out when you get to NVC.

You may also want to consider doing Electronic Processing for NVC, this is now offered for Montreal:
