Hi Susita,

Yes, I currently live near (lol..actually 1-2 hours away...but close enough) to Buffalo, NY. Buffalo NY and the surrounding area is a great place to live...

Lol..If you don't mind the snow and the cold weather that is....(a little colder and more snow than NYC...but close enough..)

The prices of houses are pretty cheap, compared to other places in the USA....

For example, the average cost for a house in the Buffalo, NY area

is about $100,000 (suburbs), $80,000 (downtown), $70,000 (rural/country areas)

If you're going for the suburbs....Try Amherst, NY...As its is consistently ranked one of the top 5 cities in the nation for crime/safety.....

Lol..And interestingly enough...The local Buffalo, NY catchphrase is..."The City of Good Neighbours...."

Economic-wise it might not be the best, as jobs are kind of hard to find around here....

But if you have one lined up already...Then go for it!

Lol..The Buffalo, NY USCIS office is quite nice too...And the DMV is the best......

And yes, I like the idea of being in Western NYS too....

I find it especially conveneient too, that it is close to Canadian cities/places (Niagara Falls, Toronto) and to other US Cities (Niagara Falls, Rochester)

There is a major airport, buses, subway system, train station, greyhound station, etc. in Buffalo, NY area too.....

As for raising children, compared to other major cities of similar sized population....It's average..There are some good schools, some not good schools...

There are also lots of attractions that are good for families and lots of places to go too....

Hope this helps...

PM me if you want more information regarding Buffalo, NY and area.......

Go Western NY!!!!

To Everyone else-Anyone else in the Buffalo, NY and area care for a VJ meetup?

Seriously.....PM me if interested too......(as I'm trying to get a group going for that too...)

For more info...You can read about and post more here: (note you don't have to be Canadian to join..all are welcome...)

Ant

Hey guys... just a quick question:

Have any of you ever lived in or near Buffalo, NY? I'm asking because there may be an opportunity for me in the future (1 or 2 years) to work up in Buffalo and I was looking at some of the local suburbs and they have really good schools. I also like the idea that I would still be in NY state.

Real estate is so reasonable there too.

Advice?
