N400- what constitutes a trip? We visited 2 countries...

On the N400 it asks something to the effect of, "How many trips did you make out of the country for more than 24 hrs.?" Technically, 2 but the fill in part asks for the date returned to the US which would almost seem to want to imply one trip. In my mind, it was one trip but it did involve entering yet another country.

We left the US---entered another country (1)---visited yet another country (2?) then returned to the US. Is this viewed as One trip or two? There is only one exit and return date to the US but in that time we visited two other countries. We were in each for several days (more than 24 hrs.).

THANK YOU!!!

a "trip" outside the country commences upon departure and ends with a return .... it does not matter how many countries were visited during the "trip".

YMMV

Hi Helpneeded,

If I were you, I would list that as one trip, as it was only one date out of the USA, and another date out of the USA...

Though you have to list all the countries visited on this trip..

For example, you can list it on the form like this....

(Date out of USA to Date back in USA): Trip to Country x and Country y....lasted several (insert exact number here) days total..

Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey too.

Ant
