when filing for k1, i had just started working....i was making around $2000 a month which was adding up to be more than the minimum poverty requirements....now i have been working at the same place for about 7months. my tax returns for 2009 will show less than the required amount (since i havent been at the place for a full year) but had i worked for a full year, it would have been enough.

my question is, when filing for AOS, do they only consider your CURRENT income such as when filing for k1?

i am not able to find any co-sponsors and the reason i didnt work before this year was because i was a student

thanks for the help guys

yes, they consider current income. Yes, the guidelines are the same.

On March 1 the guidelines will be revised UP (every year they do this) and these take effect in the consulates on April 1. USCIS can apply them immediately. I do not know what the new amounts will be. If you are making $24,000 and your family size is two I would say you are in pretty good shape. The guideline amounts are usually raised $1000-1500 for a family size of two so you should be fine.
