Getting SSN After Married Before AOS

Hello,

Dec 26th: We got Married.

Dec 28th: We applied for SSN

Dec 29th: We will send AOS.

I read you can write "Pending" in the SSN field for the AOS, is this true? My idea was to attach a copy of the form we applied for a SSN for a supporting document on the pending field for the SSN.

Also, the K-1 visa expires on January 14th. Would it be a better idea to wait for the SSN to come then send in the AOS with the written SSN on all the documents? Anyone have any experience of this?

Thank you,

Rick

Hello,

Dec 26th: We got Married. Congratulations...

An SS number/card is not required for AOS so you can write 'None" or 'Pending' - doesn't matter (no need to send any supporting documents/evidence that you've applied for a SS#).

Also, the K-1 visa expires on January 14th. Would it be a better idea to wait for the SSN to come then send in the AOS with the written SSN on all the documents? Anyone have any experience of this?

The actual K-1 visa's expiration doesn't matter - what matters is the I-94 attached in your passport that matters. It expires 90 days after your arrival. As mentioned above - SSN isn't required for AOS so no need to wait.

Please :time:
