Hello everyone, I hope you're enjoying the holidays :)

My interview is scheduled for January 12th (as you can imagine, I'm very very excited but also very very nervous!). I have a couple questions I was hoping you could help me with:

My wife is sponsoring me for a CR-1 visa, with my father in law acting as a "household member" sponsor (he filed an I-864A in addition to my wife's I-864). In my DS-230 form, I included their address as my intended residence, since my wife lives with her parents, and our plan is to stay there till I'm settled at work and can afford a place of our own.

However, in the time since we filed the support paperwork, her salary has improved thanks to more hours at work, and she's now in a position to afford an apartment on her own. She's found a gorgeous one just down the road from her parents', and would very much like to take it. It's a loft-style apartment downtown, her dream kind of place :) But would this be a problem, given that I gave her parents' address as my intended address in the US? And does the fact that her dad signed up as a household member sponsor prevent us from moving?

Sorry if the questions are silly, we're just really nervous about getting it right :P

Thanks in advance.

There is a process to change your address, sure, you betcha.

BUT.

Since the FIL isn't planning to move, anytime soon, I strongly suggest you DO NOT CHANGE IT.

Once you go through a POE, the card production is ordered, and then sent out to 'that' address.

IMO, to get it changed NOW, will be troublesome.

I suggest you change it AFTER you have green card in hand, picked up from FIL's house.

RE: Affadavit of Support Documents -

They were accepted during NVC processing, but will not be evaluated until (or a few days before) the INTERVIEW Day at the Consulate. Basically, she'd need to prepare an entirely new I-864 package, to show new domicile, new income, etc etc. I suggest not to do that, for now. I'm not suggesting to lie, but ...

GOOD LUCK.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
