Got my plane ticket, hotel reservations, tetanus and dyptheria shots. Already paid Russia-visa.com for the visa an invitation. Then the post office screwed up my passport. Other than that no plans at all

I have been to Kazan, it is a nice city. There is lots to do there. There is a casino/nightclub shaped like a pyramid that is very popular. They have a reconstructed Tatar (primary heritage culture there) village with shops and restaurants. You can go see the old Kremlin. Interesting churches there, specifically the islamic church. You can tour it if you wish. There is a shopping district with a nice plaza... Anyway, lots of history, culture etc. Good people. Don't worry about 'gangs' or any of that #######. Just be smart and don't go wandering off by yourself, stay with your girl.

K1 Visa Process long ago and far away...

02/09/06 - NOA1 date

12/17/06 - Married!

AOS Process a fading memory...

01/31/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD package for Olga and Anya

06/01/07 - Green card arrived in mail

Removing Conditions

03/02/09 - Mailed I-751 package (CSC)

03/06/09 - Check cashed

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

03/28/09 - Olga did biometrics

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)

Hey Cam!

I wish you all the best of luck on your trip!

My ex- was from Yoshkar-Ola, I was thinking of going back there, but some people are telling me there's LOTS more things going on in Kazan...

Did you work with an Agency in Kazan?? Did you know there's a group e-mail list relating to KazanBrides on Yahoo! with good advice from some guys who've been there before??

Hey, hope things go well for you, I just might be right behind you, I was browsing an agency website last night and YOWSA!!

No, no, no, I'm not referring to Yahoo PERSONALS... I'm referring to a group email list of guys who either married women from Kazan, or have been there, or are corresponding with women from there...

it's not for "dating agency" or "personal" ads, it's for guys (and women from there) to keep in touch with one another...

They are not scammers or "seeking" other than the commonality of having been to Kazan, or married someone from there...

Be sure to visit the Dom Tatarskoi Kulinariyi a few times. It is one of the best restaurants in the city and has a chef who has won regional competitions. It is a really beautiful place and has live piano music at all times. Lunches are quite affordable. Be sure to try the celery soup - it is served in a bowl which is a hollowed out (large) celery root. If you are on a budget like I was I recommend the Black Opal chardonnay to go with it. :)

Afrodita and Paprikas are also good restaurants.

Sorry, I was wrong, it wasn't Black Opal chardonnay, it was Santa Rita 120 Chardonnay.

I hope you have a safe journey and a wonderful time!
