i485 notices

hi,

we sent in the i485 paperwork from Washington State to Chicago around December 1st. We paid with checks and we haven't received a notice of action, nor have the checks been cashed.

My wife has an expiration date of feb 2010 in her passport.

How long does it take before a NOA is received ?

Should we file another i485 in january if nothing has happened by then ?

Is there some kind of documentation we can have on hand as proof that we have filed an i485 once her feb 2010 expiry date arrives ?

It has only been 2 weeks since you sent in your application, so I wouldn't get worried quite yet. You should be receiving your NOA very soon and the check will also clear the bank around the same time.

Definitely DO NOT send another application in January. That would certainly complicate things.

Try to be patient and I'm sure you'll hear something shortly.

I think you'll be getting your NOA any day soon. It's been only two weeks so don't worry too much. If you dont get anything by next week or so then you can try call USCIS. Good luck!
