Alien fiance new address

Hello, unfortunately a few weeks after filing our paperwork for the K1 Visa I had to move house. We have just received the receipt of filing and been allocated a case number. I found information on the immigration website about changing your address if you're an alien living in the US but not for if you're an alien living outside of the US.

I'm sure this has probably been answered before but I didn't find anything in the seach that really seemed to apply.

Does anyone know what the process is to change the alien's address outside the US at this stage?

Thanks

If you're outside the US and the petition has not yet been approved, you'll want to get it corrected because the consulate will send your documents to the address they have on file (which would be what is on the I 129f/G325a, etc). I've not seen this happen very often, and unfortunately, even what I'm going to suggest may not work. First have the USC call the USCIS (mis) information line and tell them.

Then, once the case is approved and moves to the NVC, I'd have the USC call them as well and see what address they have on file (basically checking whether or not the USCIS request 'took' or not). If it's wrong, ask them again to correct it as you will need to receive mail from the consulate.

Failing that, I'm not sure how well mail forwarding works over there but I'd be sure to have that in place, too.

My address changed between times as well - I ended up phoning the embassy every few days once it left the US because we didn't catch it early enough. Once I informed them they just sent me an e-mail with the information and links to the forms (you don't get anything more than a letter with the links to the forms anyway), as well giving me a code and e-mail address to send the updated info to. This costs 1.20 a minute, for about 5 mins.

It's probably best if your fiance just calls them and ask if you can e-mail the information (Hopeless to try and give it over the phone. Seriously).

Alternatively, the Royal Mail has a forwarding service that's quite cheap. It forwards all mail connected with the last name you give to a new address so long as the credit card used is registered to one or other of the addresses. I think the last name has to be the same too. Then you/your fiance can call the line like I did and get it updated.

Quick edit: do get the info updated regardless, the mail forwarding is just to be safe.

Yes, I just did this last week. You must send a letter to them stating the change of address. I put the WAC#, both peititioner and beneficiary's names and birthdate, the old address, the new address, and signed and dated it. It seems like they got it and updated my case as it was touched a few days after I sent it. PM if you have anymore questions. You can't do it in the online or with AR-11 since the address is abroad, they have to change the hard copy of I-129F
