does anybody know how long kiev is taking to process k1 apps? after they receive them?

just curious.

a freind of mine got totally approved in 60 days or a bit longer.. but that was in south america

 on time

I started my process August 4th and we recieved the Visa November 27. 45 days for intial app. 5 days at National Visa center 10 days at Kiev. Your friend does not need to wait for the embassy. The info packet is on there website and it is the same documents they send the fiance. My fiance did the medical, background and other documents before she even recieved a notice from the embassy.

I agree, you do NOT need to wait for the Embassy to notify you. Download the package from the website and have your fiancee' start filling them out. Also you can e-mail the Embassy and ask if your case is already in the system and if so, contact the "call-center" in Poland (number is on the Embassy's website) and schedule your fiancee's interview using your case number (should start with KEV-.....). The Embassy in Kiev updates their system with new applications only on Fridays, so if your petition is not there yet this week, wait until Monday to contact them via e-mail again.

Hope it helps and good luck.

Joe.

P.s.: I just looked at your timeline and you haven't received your NOA-2 yet...so, there's still a long way to go before you get to the steps I mentioned above.

Once your petition is processed, which has nothing to do with the consulate, it will be sent to Kiev. when it is in Kievs system, usually 2-3 weeks after being sent to them, YOU make an appointment when YOu are prepared, you do not "wait for them" as at other consulates. Backlogs for visa appointments vary and I haven't checked Kiev lkately, they were running about a two week backlog recently and as short as three days at one point this summer. This means...get your interview documents ready NOW. Get all the things you need, get them translated, get prepared so that when your petition arrives YOU will not be slowing down the process waiting for police certificates, birth certificates, former marriage cetificates, yada, yada. Whatever you need, get it done. we had eveything needed for the interview (except the I-134 which I did at the last minute) before we filed the petition.

Do not pay for anything, plan for anything or buy any plane tickets until the visa is in your fiancees hand. In general, Kiev handles the consulate process much faster than other consulates.
