Had my medical yesterday. It went well, but just a head's up for anyone yet to have theirs - if your MMR innoculation record doesn't show 2 separate dates (mine didn't because I had them done in different cities and the doctor just wrote the 1st one down with the same date as the 2nd one) then go and have a immunity test done. Apparently you have to have 2 before the age of 18 or 1 before and 1 after. Even though I've had 2 separate vacs because it didn't list 2 different dates they couldn't list it on the worksheet as being done. Really ####### since the letter from the doctor showed the vaccinations and ages at which I had them done. Doesn't make a difference over here because I didn't have to have it before entering the US for K1 but I need it for AOS so I'm going to get the immunity test. They are unbeliveably ####### really.

But other than that it was okay. The staff were really nice and I was out within 40 minutes. I had an appointment at 3.30 and there were only 2 other people there when I arrived and no one when I left so that may be the last appointment of the day. If you don't want to wait around I'd say the later you can get your appointment the better. The surgery was really easy to find - their map is good and it's easy enough to get around on the tube.

So you mean that if you never had any MMR done as a child, and only have the one jab as an adult, they'll ask you to do an immunity test? I'll have to ask when I call tomorrow to book ours.

Timeline Summary:

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017

My husband went in with no history at all and they gave him one there and that is all that he needs to meet his requirements. He assumes he had one (or two) as a child, but obviously doesn't know. I think the immunity test is just if you would rather not get an extra vaccine that you don't "need" to protect you. If you don't mind, they'll give you one and that should be all you need.

Lucky you! Our appointment was at 1:10 and we were there for over three hours :(

Which one did you go to? We found it very difficult to find the Bentick Mansions one based on their map.

I went to Bentick Mansions too. I think they must be the main one for US visas because their email address starts with us...

I got out at Bond St Tube, crossed and walked down James st, headed right on Wigmore st and crossed and took the first street over the road and that's Marylebone lane, then the 1st street off there is Bentick St and the Mansions were just on that side of the road. Took maybe 5 mins to get there. I found it easy but I'm used to wandering around unfamiliar cities clutching a map

I'm not sure about that. I was told that if you only had 1 as a child you had to have another one after you were 18. I was told to get the immunity test since I know I had both but I only have 1 date recorded against that. In fact, I think that I've actually had rubella as a child anyway so I should be immune to that :)

To have full immunity I guess you need the 2 doses, otherwise there wouldn't be two doses.

I had my immunisation records from the docs, but it turns out the only ones required for the US are the MMR and Tetanus. I hadn't had a Tetanus in the last ten years and my MMR or more likely the separate versions would of been done when i was a child.

I basically just had the two jabs right there, about £80ish i think.

My fiance finally had his appointment with a local gp today... after his records had to be send from another gp to that gp's central services to this gp's central services to this gp. Ugh. The doc said she'd fax the results to Knightsbridge tomorrow... maybe soon we'll be back on track for that goddamned visa. :hehe:

Had my medical today and also posted back packet three, so you can move me up to waiting for an interview date.

The medical was straight forward and easy to find. The doc was really nice, had a good chat got everything sorted out and needed no jabs :) they said if i don't hear from them by friday then my records will be at the embassy...I was in and out in an hour or so and had the appointment at 1pm, only one person there when we got there but a load there when we came out.

Good luck to anyone with a medical or interview coming up

Hopefully my medical experience will help. I had a full record of injections right up till I left school at 16. Went to the medical and was told even though I'd had measles and rubella injections as a child the USA need it twice I also needed some up to date injections. The nurse gave me a letter to take to my doctors to say what I needed. I had 6 injections in total. Measles, mumps and rubella in one arm and tetanus, diptheria and polio in the other. Glad I did as wouldn't have wanted the trip home on the tube! And they were all done for free! My doctor then faxed the letter backed to the medical place and they updated my records and then posted the form to me that we need for the AOS. Definately better doing it that way as it takes 4 days for them to get your blood results back anyway before they can send your file to the embassy! Hope that helps
