Hey Mal...good idea to move before the interview, even if it is a little painful. I wish I had done the same, but oh well! I wish you luck with your move and your interview!

On Friday I'll be purchasing my train ticket to Orlando from Seattle for Jan. 11. We decided that with the uncertainty with domicile recently that we would take the plunge ($300 plunge!).

Anyway, I want my husband to drive me down to the Amtrak station in Seattle. I will be driving (always do when we cross the border) and will tell them I am to board a train that afternoon or day after (may go down a day early to visit my aunt). I'll have two luggage and three 3x3x3ft boxes to take along with me. We'll have a letter from my husband's employer with due date to return, copy of our filing/correspondence with NVC, my single train ticket in my name, and bills/lease agreement. Let's hope we make it through okay.

I am sorry that the recent insanity has forced you apart. This is something that should NEVER have to happen.

Just gotta say...I think this is SO wise of you, Mal. As hard as it will be to be apart, I totally side with your hubby on this. Domicile is clearly a huge issue for CR-1s, so having proof of your U.S. residency and (hopefully) employment should make your case a slam dunk. Also, if they're treating it as a reunification visa (as mentioned by Dalene's CO), then there's no way they can say they're NOT reunifying the two of you.

Hard decision, perhaps, but very smart decision.

I leave Seattle at 4:40pm on the 11th and get to Orlando at 12:55pm on the 15th. Part of that length is the 6 hour layover in Chicago. I didn't get a sleeping compartment because it's another $200 for only the Seattle -> Chicago part of the trip. I'm gonna bring my pillow, and if I have that, I can sleep anywhere.

We're between downtown Orlando and Pine Castle. We'll be staying with my Gramma for a good amount of time until we can get a place to ourselves - most likely in Oviedo, near UCF.

I know you and I have chatted back and forth about this domicile stuff, and I truly appreciate that. Hubby really is worried and to ease that for him (he really, really hates it here and can't wait to be in FL), I'm doing this. The things we do for our spouses.

Yay Orlando! Yay UCF- That's where I graduated from . . . a few years ago . . . (*coughs*).
