Hi, my wife just filed her I-485 AOS based on her I-129F visa. We filed this, and I think they recieved it like November 2nd. I just checked the status on uscis website, and found that on November 24th, they transferred it to the California Service Center for processing & that they'll be sending me a letter explaining this action.

Just wondering...is this normal? Does this mean were not getting interviewed? We haven't even recieved a biometrics notice as of yet. Yeah I know, I should just wait on the letter but I'm just to curious. Hopefully its a good thing. Thanks. God bless

Welcome to USCIS's version of the shell game.

Our I-485 was submitted June 10th 2009. It was moved back and forth to Lee Sumitt Mo, and CSC Center 4 times.

I found that each time it moves your time starts all over again, you go to the end of the line at the new location each time.

In Rosie and my Case they also sent out agents to our house to verify that we did in fact live together and that everything was above board. Our case is our age difference which the U.S. does not understand that people in love don't always see age as a problem.

Anyway after the last move we have our I-485 Green Card Interview Dec 10th on Omaha. So it takes a little longer but ...they can't stop the process for ever.

Good luck and hopefully you will get your GREEN CARD without an interview since they are so backed up.

Rosie & David's case seems to be rare - we filed in June, got transferred in July (EAD & AP approved after transfer), then AOS got approved without interview two days ago. For most people it's faster, for us we had to wait a little longer for AOS approval but EAD/AP approval was pretty normal timing. You will hopefully be approved with no interview, which happens a lot with K-1's since they already had an interview in their home country.

Okay, today we just got the letter explaining why they sent it to the California Service Center...heres what it says...

Notice Type: Transfer Notice

This is to advise you that in order to speed up proccessing we have transfered the above case to the following USCIS office for processing:

California Service Center , 2nd floor, 24000 Avila Road, Laguna Niguel, Ca 92607-0111

Telephone: 8003755283

That office will notify you of the decision made in the application or petition.

So, we have that and the biometrics appointment date. Can't wait to get this biometrics appointment done. Is there any cost for that? Also, since the case was tranferred to the california service center, will the place I go for the biometrics know where to send them? Should I inform them of the change, or will the USCIS handle all of that?

So, as for the transfer...they are saying they did the transfer to "speed up proccessing" which sounds like that means that it will be processed quicker now than before...sounds good. So they go on to say that office will notify me of the decision....hopefully soon...anyways thats my updates. Just praying that it goes smooth. Thanks again you guys!!
