RNC health provider promotes end-of-life counseling (otherwise known as "death panels")

November 15, 2009

Earlier this week, the Republican National Committee was embarrassed when Politico reported that the party had been providing its employees with insurance that covered abortion services. After all the hubbub that the RNC and Republican lawmakers had made over the public option covering such services, it seemed quite hypocritical that the GOP would pay for abortion through its insurance plan.

So the RNC opted out of that portion of the plan so that they would no longer be funding abortions (sort of). But later this week, another startling discovery was made about the RNC's health insurance provider.

It covers end-of-life counseling services. But by Sarah Palin and TEA Party protesters alike, those services are better known as "death panels."

I'm glad you admit that the Obama "nonexistent" plan has death panels. Now admitting it is the first step.

Joe, it's not that difficult. Rather than me admitting that the health care reform legislation would establish "death panels" as ridiculously and without any basis in fact claimed by the Grumpy Obstructionist Party and the Tea Baggers, I am merely pointing out the GOP's dilemma. That dilemma being that if their claim had any validity, it would mean that they are exposing their staff to a health insurance plan that promotes death panels which seek to euthanize the beneficiaries. Of course, there are no death panels promoted in their health insurance plan. The argument they were and are looking to make completely falls apart. It's quite amusing, actually, that they're caught promoting for their staff all the things they publicly oppose.

What's wrong with end of life counselling? If you can't talk about death or admit that you will die someday, you have some serious problems of your own.

We all die at some point, its a difficult event for many to handle. If you are reaching the end of your life and have the time to plan what should happen at the event of your death, you will make it much easier on your family. Not everyone gets the chance to do that.

You're right. Its quite hypocritical.

I still don't agree with the death panels.

Glass houses are a biyatch.
Right. Its funny though that anyone thinks that republicans are any different than Democrats. They're all a bunch of libs. On different teams.

Neither does anyone else. Nor are there any on the horizon. Only dimwits and numbnuts are far enough removed from reality to make such claims. Oh, and a certain ditz, too.

They are death panels. Especially coupled with revoking doctor's compensation if they "overtreat" the elderly. Its a recipe for death panels. Its in the bill, and undeniable.
