Just a thought, there was a couple that stayed over in Montreal, I think, but they had their interview on last Fri and was able to pick up their visa on Mon. You might want to give that a try.

that's our plan, but there's no guarantee. you basically give it a shot at the interview and they may or may not say yes. Their official stance is that it's only possible if the beneficiary was already living in the us on a previous visa. But.....still gonna give it a shot. However if they say no, and then it takes more than a week to get it in the mail-I'm screwed.

I hope you can get it sooner Sean by asking at the interview. Bring a copy of the ticket issued, so they can see that you've booked it...that might help.

Dan and Ali, it's not the visa that takes so long to be issued, it can basically be approved that day, printed off and inserted in the visa, however they send it via Xpresspost and it appears they send them out in batches, and not individually, so they wait and mail them out at the end of the week, and then Xpresspost could take up to 5 business days from mailing....

My mom emailed me and was like "Is your visa at the post office yet?"

Man, my mom seems to be more anxious than I am to get it.

My crazy mom went to the post office at lunch today expecting it to be there. (Our post office is a 20 minute drive from her work)

It SHOULD be since I got the priority envelope, and it wasn't.

Somehow I'm not surprised.

that's a good idea about the ticket.......I'll bring the ticket and put my ridiculously cute kid in front of the consul and say "Do you want this child out in the street with no way home?" :( <------that's the face my kid'l ll be making.
