Oh I can't inflate grades, my friend... I do believe in giving extra credit... but one has to be willing to do some work to earn these things. In order to do that... once has to have the ability to recognize the value of hard-earned work.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

OK I will break this down Barney Style for you (again):

The Department of Defense Dictionary of Military Terms defines terrorism as:

The calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.

- Hasan is clearly guilty of the first part. However the question is did he "intend to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological."? Try anwering that question and avoid using "libs" or "because I said so" in your answer.

Yes he did, and fits the second part. Its been well proven that he disagreed with US foreign policy and sought to disrupt or change it by his actions. But not enough for you apparently.

And you are a lib because I said so.

OK you get a couple of points for actually answering the question & I agree that Hasan disagreed with US foreign policy, but there are no known links to terrorists so I don't see that he "sought to disrupt or change it by his actions". Again I am NOT defending Hasan's actions, but merely am comparing the known facts to the above definition (much like the FBI did).

This is your best response yet Joe... thanks.

P.s. You lose a point for calling me a lib :P

Thanks. I don't know if you're willing to admit this, but I think we have a lot more in common than you might think. If we both could get over the one-upping BS. I'm guilty of it. Hopefully you can admit you are too. We're guys, its in our nature.

Well it definitely can't apply to you since you're a lib and they all want handouts.

I'm sure not much more you get closer to the definitive DOD definition of terrorism as Hasan had well-known and repeated political and religious beliefs which many people heard and his targets weren't his neighbors but a well-thought out plan to kill the maximum of unarmed U.S. soldiers in a confined indoor area. He brought two handguns and plenty of extra ammo.

If he doesn't qualify as a terrorist it's hard to imagine who would qualify.

I do believe Hasan's radical religious beliefs was a significant factor, but I just don't see intent to intimidate governments or societies (but that's up to the authorities to decide). Either way I hope he gets the death penalty.

I prefer an exchange of ideas vs a pissing contest. Remember a while back when I said I would be the first one to defend you if someone was bashing your opinion? Also I recall another poster making fun of you on a personal level (unemployment maybe?) and I denounced it. The part that gets me is the labeling (lib) and the rhetoric. If you could state your opinion more & use less rhetoric/ labeling we could move past the one-upping BS.
