Question for those with interviews scheduled or those that have been through the process.

I emailed the Embassy last week requesting a status update and received a reply two days ago that our interview was scheduled for October 24 which is less than 7 weeks away..........Great!

I called the State Department and Embassy this morning to ask when the invitation letter and package would be sent. The State Department told me that my petition is still with the NVC. I informed them that I received an email from the Embassy saying that the interview has been scheduled. State Department told me to call Moscow.

The Embassy Customer Service told me that my petition still had not been received in Moscow. I told them that I received an email from them saying that the interview has been scheduled. They told me that the Consular Section schedules the interviews and to just wait a week and call them back.

I also replied to the email which listed the interview date and asked about the package and still have not received a response.

How soon before the interview is it typical to receive the package?

After being approved, recalled, waiting for 3 mths for a piece of paper, then re-approved and now waiting for another month, my nerves are getting a little shot. I'm probably just being paranoid, but...........It's the Government!

Jello,

The State Department confirm my interview date two weeks before the Embassy did. Your best bet is to keep on calling Washignton D.C to inquiry about your case. THe Embassy in Moscow has some of the not efficient people working there. It took them two weeks to confirm about my fiancee's interview date. Don't rely on information you get from the Embassy in Moscow. I wish the best of luck.

MaClaud,

For us, the only thing we ever heard from NVC is the date that they sent the petition to Moscow.

I called the Embassy a couple times, but that was a waste of time (as confirmed by others on here).

Based on what others on VJ have told me, the best way to get information is either calling the State Department (202-663-1225) or emailing the Embassy (consulMo@state.gov).

Good Luck!

I'd keep checking the Moscow web site over the next week or two. You may or may not have been sent the week of the letter from the NVC. It may have gone out the next week via DHL to Moscow. When it reaches the emabassy they do take a little bit of time, but you will see the case number up there soon!

My wife and I are in progress with a K-3 petition. They approved the petition on 8-AUG and just today my wife received her packet from the Moscow Embassy, with her interview letter.

I had called the NVC about 2 weeks ago, after I received the letter from them stating that they received my stuff. They told me that the Embassy would receive our documents within a week (after the day I called) via DHL. They were correct, in my case. Total time it took from NVC to Embassy - about 3 weeks. And 1 more week for Embassy to send the interview letter.

I had actually found the interview date on their web site last Monday (the 4th) and gave my wife a nice surprise call that night to tell her about the interview date. She was a little shocked, but wonderfully happy!

Hang in there! It's gotta be coming soon!

2005-08-10: Met Natalia and fell in love. Too bad she didn't.

2006-01-13: Married. Biggest mistake of my life.

2006-03-07: Began the I-130/I-129F process.

2006-11-01: POE - JFK / Home in Austin!

2006-11-15: She hits me and continues pattern of abuse.

2006-11-16: I filed for divorce.

2006-11-17: Wife is served divorce papers; she and daughter return to Russia.

2007-12-08: She returns to Russia "for the holidays" (lied to lawyers and court).

[many more ups and downs during this time period - mostly downs]

2008-03-26: File for bankruptcy.

2008-07-30: Bankruptcy finalized.

2008-08-27: Divorce final. Started piecing my life back together.

(See my timeline for details.)

Disclaimer: I'm just a guy who married for love, but she didn't! All she wants is money and a green card.

Thank you all guys and girls for support! We'll hang on, sure, but it's really so upsetting us. Its already 2 weeks after sending from NVC and no information at the embassy. As for their site with schedule for interview, they renew it not so often, so the only way to know it asap is e-mailing them or calling to DOS. Thanks for good advice! Good luck to all!

I don't know if ours was just unique, but my fiance received her invitation letter today and the case number had changed.

We were initially approved back at the end of April and I received the letter from the NVC forwarding our case to the Embassy, but then our petition was recalled due to IMBRA. We were re-approved August 4 and NVC again forwarded it back to the Embassy on August 10. I never received a 2nd letter from the NVC.

For the last several weeks the only way I could get any information was by emailing the Embassy. Last week I received an email that our interview was scheduled for October 24.

Today my fiance received the invitation letter and the case number was different.

Like I said, this may be a unique situation or perhaps only affects people that were approved and then recalled due to IMBRA, but I just wanted to give people a heads up.
