Checking Moscow's web site I found.

Case number MOS2006687XXX which means it was assigned a case number at NVC on July 6 (687-500)

It was posted on Moscows web site on July 17 for interview on September 8.

It was processed at NVC and made it to Moscow in 10 days minus the weekends that's 6 days WOW

Our case MOS2006693XXX was at NVC on July 12 and sent to Moscow on July 19

I am thinking our interview might be on the week of Sept 18.

Any thought?

John and Anna

These dates are about the same as ours were a year ago. Our interview was Oct 27. I would expect it to be between 20 SEP to 10 NOV, which would be typical.

Also, the NVC/State department can tell you the interview date based on the MOS # (this is how I found mine, about a month before it showed up on the website). It is a 202 number in DC for the NVC, search around here to find it.

That's about how it works. If your receipt dates are close to the receipt dates on the site, you should be about that number of days behind. They supposedly process the cases in the order that they receive them.

I know when I was checking the site a few months ago, the case numbers themselves really didn't matter that much, but Neon and a couple other guys on here had receipt dates a week or two from mine and our interviews were a week or two around each other.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

I calculated 11th, 14th, or 15th. I was the 16th. My MOS was 2 numbers ahead of anothe VJer whose fiancee's interview was set 2 days before. Our NVC approvals, NOA2s were all the very same day. We went in parallel. However, the interviews were very close, just not on the same days as I thought they would be.

The way I calcualted my guesstimate was by looking at the VJ link Immigration Timelines specifically for Russia and over the past 6 months. I also took into consideration such things as the NVC arrival and departure times and when the samples of timelines received their packets etc. The sample size is so small compared to the whole that I was surprised how accurate my guesstimate was. I just looked at an old email to the VJer before making the estimates and guessed mid-August for him and me. The 14th and the 16th is pretty dayum close, wouldn't ya say??:thumbs::lol:

Great feedback thanks!

Moscow seems to be working faster and faster. When I called DOS the girl was amazed how fast Moscow responded!

That's not NY! Both pics of us on here were in Moscow, one was in the Metro, the other in front of Moo-Moo on old-Arbat. I hope soon to have some pics of us in NY, we're planning on honeymooning there. I'll be sure to post some new photos when the time comes. (Wow, got me excited thinking in the future!)

I called the US Embassy in Msocow and they still have not received my petition. NVC stil confirms that my petition left for Moscow on July 21, 2006. I am hoping my petition reaches Moscow soon so my fiance can have her interview in October. Do petition once sent from NVC take longer than 2 weeks to get to Moscow?

John,

I called the 202 DOS number today and they told me that an interview for September 21, 2006 has been scheduled for my fiance. I am so happy. What did the DOS tell you when you last called? I have a feeling that the embassy customer service in Moscow doesn't the latest information on recent cases. I will confirm all of this with the Embassy next week. I hope that your fiance has her interview scheduled soon.

Cesar04 that's interesting you called DC and got the date. This is the first time I have seen that info. Though we're past that point, it's good info for others following to know.

To the question of how long does the NVC packet to get to the Embassy in Moscow via DHL, I'd say 2 - 4 weeks is probably average. Consider the following.

This is my guess from my recent experience and reading posts of others doing the MOS experience. The DHL NVC packet itself probably gets there within five working days. THEN ... it has to be inprocessed. That means as you know with modern business processes and the Government, it goes through several points with several people handling it, doing their thing, whatever, and finally it makes it's way into their database. That's the point someone can look into the system online and say yes we see your MOS and you're scheduled for whatever date. My guess is that before someone can tell you at the Consular Section of the US Embassy in Moscow they officially have your NVC dispatched approved USCIS petition, they've already put you along with dozens of others into the database system online.

All processes at any company or Government facility depends on many factors as you know: staff level, who's sick, who's on vacation, the workload during any period, any complications with received materials, etc etc. Not everyone that gets an appointment has the visa process and its issuance at the Embassy go smoothly. VJ of course has many posts about horror stories plus do other forums on the web. Some people reschedule, some have other things happen. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes. So there's a lot of processing to be done to get ready to tie all the official ribbons on and send it to your beloved.
