Most Muslims in the military serve proudly and willingly. It should not be forgotten that wars between Muslim countries -Iraq v. Kuwait - for example, escue the idea that Muslims are precluded from fighting

other Muslims at all.

do you mean eschew? are you saying that the war between iraq and kuwait was halal? just because it was done doesn't mean it was right. i'm with khalid on this one anyways. when the us military is launching drones that continue to take out hundreds more civilians than their intended targets, it's not ok or remotely halal to be involved in that shite.

By what criteria are you judging halal or haram re this issue? If Muslims want to live in the west, they need to give up the idea that they can avoid some obligations of citizenship and just pick and choose. Besides, if Muslims fighting against Muslims is always haram, then there are sahaba who committed haram during the bloody conflict that split Sunni and Shia soon after the death of the Prophet. Why do we hold them in esteem since one of the first things they did was fight Muslim on Muslim for control of the ummah?

Muslims can't be trusted. They turn into slime as soon as they enter the door of the mosque. No muslim should ever serve in the military, ever. Look what happens when they do? They shoot their colleagues, it's a documented fact now.

What's crazy is that military service isn't even an obligation in this country. We have a volunteer military. And yet, people go in wanting to take advantage of taxpayer largesse without any intention of actually living up to their end of the deal.

God's law is much more strict in its protection of civilians during war than current us military policies. i would think the consequences of violating said laws re. civilians would be much more dire than shirking whatever perceived obligations you feel there are re. military service. but that's just my opinion. how do you feel those obligations re. civilians can be met then by muslim soldiers?

Lets see other recent killings involved whites (at Fort Bragg), a latino (SSG Martinez, although he was acquitted) & a black Muslim (SGT Akbar) so I guess we need to bar whites, latinos & blacks from military service as well.
