Medical concerns

My wife, Merlaine, is worried about an operation she had 5 years ago. She had cysts on her ovaries and had an operation to have them removed. I told her it shouldn't be an issue at all, but she (and her mother) are worried that it might cause an issue at her exam. Is there any chance that it may cause a problem?

Oh, her screen name here is Merlaine-n-Kevin. She's not very familiar with the forums here yet so she asked if I would post the question here for her.

Thanks so much!

There shouldnt be a problem with that. (I highly doubt it will even come up) Like it has been said before here, answer their questions and offer no extra information. My wife is worried too about the medical check...but i told her...as long as she dont have HIV, TB or something similar she will have no problems.

Yeh, I've tried to assure her that they're not concerned about things like that, only communicable diseases, etc., but she's still worried about it. I thought if she heard it from other members here it would help :D thannksss!!

They may ask her about it but just have her be truthful and don't let the doctor intimidate her. The doctor Claudeth saw kept telling her that she either had a baby or an abortion. It really make Claudeth angry and got right in the doctor's face about it.

Good luck

If your wife has never given birth but has a scar in her abdomen, St. Luke's is known to ask "probing" questions. This is to make sure that the visa applicant is not hiding a Caesarian section (proving childbirth). Your wife should bring with her the medical records to prove that the operation was done to remove a cyst.

I had the same surgery. Not an issue at all. The doctor did not ask anything about it during my medical but just incase, let her bring all her medical records.

Ahh, ok. I'll have her dig up the records. I just finished speaking with her and turns out that St. Lukes was where she had the surgery done so her records would be there anyway. Thanks everyone!!

Shirr had some minor surgery done as well. She brought her records and showed them to the doctor. The doctor looked at the scar and read the papers and that was all.

If your SO has the papers to show the doctor, it explains the scar and its not a problem.

SLMEC is different from Saint Lukes Hospital. Different location and Different Hospital Administrator.

Oh ok, thanks. I'll check with her to see if she has any documents from the procedure and if not, have her get some to take with her.

To lessen her anxiety, just let her bring with her the medical records, in case it will be asked. She just have to request a clinical summary of her previous confinement at St Luke's hospital. Normally hospitals issues that for a minimal fee and will take about a week or less from the date of request.

I understand her feelings coz I myself requested for a clinical summary of my latest confinement.
